1. 10 days the end of August - over Labor Day Weekend (longer park hours, but very crowded)

OR

2. 7 days the middle of September (shorter hours, but no crowds)

Even though option 1 is 3 days longer than option 2, I'm concerned that we'll actually lose time due to the crowded holiday weekend.

Any opinions??

TIA,
Sammy

Go with Sept 7 day. Most will say the more is better but not in this case. Shorter days mean longer time to rest. Lines will not be as long as not as many people will be in the park. Either way you will have a blast. You are going to WDW? Right?? How can you go wrong  Have fun and tell Mickey HI for us.

Middle of September. I've been over labor day and ever since that, we almost always go in the middle of September. It's less crowded.

Middle of September! We took a vacation last year during the last full week of Value Season and it was the last full week of September also. The crowds were non-existant and we got to do just about every ride as a walk on. Save yourself from the hassle and go for the low crowds. Mickey

I would choose the second option unless I had a really good reason to go the end of August.

I do have a really good reason to go the end of August so that is when I will be there this year :)

I'm really excited to be meeting some UK DISers in August.

September !! Most folks don't want to have their kids out of school at the beginning of the school year. Holiday week-ends are always bad news, though . . . . . .

The only thing that would concern me about going in September is, since there are shorter hours, will there not be any night time shows?? Fantasmic, Spectromagic, Illuminations...how could one go to the World and not see these??

I'd go the first week - I have been over Labor Day weekend and didn't think it was crowded at all. I mean I wouldn't go to the Magic Kingdom Saturday, Sunday, or Monday of the weekend but overall it was very low crowds. I'd go for more days....also I don't remember hours being that much longer over the weekend.

Sometimes the most obvious answer is actually the right answer.Dont overthink or analyze this to death. Anyway you slice it 10 days is 42% more than 7 days. This is a no-brainer especially if you love WDW. Take the 10 days.

LOL HairyAriel....my DH always says the same thing to me about over-analyzing things!!

Thanks for the replies everyone! I know better that to hit MK on any Saturday...nevermind a holiday one, so we'd find something else to do that day anyway. I was just curious if the Labor Day Weekend crowds would just make it unbearable to be anywhere around WDW.

Last trip in 2000 was September and boy....talk about low crowds....can you say, "NO CROWDS??" It was a little spooky being the only ones (truly the ONLY ONES) on the New York City backdrop street in MGM one morning!!

We're still deciding on the actual dates of travel....DD starts 8th grade this September so that is playing into the decision as well. She is an "A" student, but there's so much work to make up when out for a week! Still...if that week works out better, she's already said she'd just "deal with it!"

Thanks again for the opinions!

Sammy

Definitely the 7 days in September... can't beat that time of year!!!
