Both are about the same cost... within $5 difference. National we could end up with a bigger/nicer car, but also they might be really busy and we might end up with only a mid-size.

Also with emerald aisle, do you have to go to a kiosk or just right out to the garage? We can do online checkin with alamo.

Emerald Aisle - you go straight to the garage. In either case, you have to go through a booth on the way out.

It's rare for only mid-size to be available.

In Tampa they are all located together, but the Aisle is usually a mix of true mid-sizes, what is now called "Standard" (because the Mid-size selection is full of what the EPA says are Compacts.), and compact SUV-type vehicles, such as the Kia Sportage. There is usually a glut of those awful Chevy HHR's on the Aisle in TPA, too, because they are stuck with them and they are unpopular.

If what you really want is a true full-size with Alamo, then book a Full-Size or even a Premium, NOT a Standard. If you need to seat 3 adults in the back, you need to go to a Premium.

(This new size classification of theirs is really ridiculous. A "standard" is supposed to be a transmission type, not a size classification.)

You pick your car by car class at Alamo too. They're the same company! If you don't like what you see in your car class at one company, walk over to the other. At corporate locations they don't care. They're the same cars. When a customer returns a car to Alamo, it could end up on the National side after it's washed and v.v. The key is, rent from whichever company is cheaper.
