What would be an acceptable trade for the FDNY Mickey Fireman pin?

We have some FDNY pins that we bought recently in anticipation of our trip to Disney on March 10th. We are completely new to pin trading. I would like my kids to have a little more variety on their lanyards, so I'm wondering if I can somehow trade some of the FDNY pins for some other pins before we get there. Is it too late? If so, what would be some acceptable things for my kids to take in a trade for these pins?

Thanks so much!!

Sharon

P.S. Anyplace we can buy lanyards before we get to Florida so they are all ready to go?

I'm sure there are people here that would trade one of those pins with you. I rec'd one in a trade already. They are very nice pins.
It's hard to say what is acceptable and what isn't.
I was surprised to see on Pinpics that 77 people want to trade them, compared to 70 want them. So I wouldn't say they have a high tradability. But it is all in the opinion of who wants one. It could range from another rack pin to an LE.
If you are wanting to trade just for variety, do you you live near a TDS where you could trade with CM's or other guests? Or are you set up in Pinpics where you could set up trades now?
Unless you have ready access to lanyards, I would just buy one at TDS at MCO (if you are flying to Orlando) or just buy one at the gift store at your resort when you arrive there.
Unless -- you can work a trade with someone here for pin:lanyard trade. ;)

If "TDS" stands for The Disney Store (sorry if this is dumb...I just don't know the lingo yet), then we live near tons of them. But can you trade pins with the CMs at Disney Stores? Alternatively, is there a pin trading thing regularly in the New York area? Of course, I would suppose everyone in the New York area has this particular pin already!

Are all pins at least $4.00? My main goal is to make this really fun and fulfilling for my kids (for instance, my son bought a dwarf pin and now is excited about trying to collect the other six) not to become a die-hard collector (yeah...I say this now...lol!) I just think it will add a wonderful dimension to our trip!

TDS = The Disney Store
DS = Disney Store
You will see it both ways.
As far as I know, all TDS have pin trading Tuesday nights. The CM's should have a couple lanyards with pins that can be traded.
Here -- I am the only trader and I finally gave up. But where you live, you probably have many who show up for TDS pintrading Tuesday nights! It's 7:00-9:00 p.m.
Have fun! :)

Sharon, give yourself time, read boards like this one & you will get into the lingo of Disney & pin trading :).

You mentioned your son got a dwarf pin. Was it from the 100 Years of Dreams collection from the Disney Stores? If so, let us know on this board as we can probably help him get most, if not all, of the rest of the pins in that set.

Have fun!

Hi,
Yes...he has Bashful sitting in like a mining car. It's pin #69...100 years of Dreams. It's not a hard set to collect, is it? Will people at the parks have other ones?

I did call the Disney Store and maybe we will try that as well, just to get him and my daughter used to the whole idea of pin trading. Since they don't have lanyards yet, should they just bring them in a bag?

Thanks you guys!!

Sharon

I saw the SW train set (YoD) on a few CM lanyards in early January. Matter of fact, I put some on them, ;)
I have an extra train set to trade. But I would like to trade the whole set, rather just one or two. So if later you get in a pinch and still want them, LMK. Maybe we can work something out.
Keep in mind for park CM lanyard trades, you will find nice pins. But you also see A LOT of the same pins over and over and over .... But it is still a very fun thing to do! :D

Sharon, I have an extra #39 Happy & an extra #53 Doc if you are interested. You can send me a PM (private message at the bottom of the screen) or an email - judithm65@hotmail.com .

Thank you everyone for the advice and e-mails. When we get back from DisneyWorld, I'll let you know about trading. Right now I want to give the kids the experience of trading down there, and the only thing I have multiples of is this pin, so they won't be unhappy about trading it away. After we get back, if one of them are missing something, I will post and probably get way too addicted to this!!

Meanwhile, we will try to come to the pin meet at the Contemporary on March 15th. See some of you there!!
