my mom is stressing out about this issue. she's like you can't just keep it in your room! maybe you could keep it in the front desk safe but what are you going to do???! I'm like I don't know, let me ask the board

I think we will either lock it in the safe in the room or in the safe at the desk. This is a great post! I haven't really put that much thought into it. My mom is a worrier as well, and i'm surprised she hasn't brought this up yet!!

I guess ur best bet would be to put it in the safe in ur room, where it's safe and locked up. That's what we thought of doing.

We kept it all in the room safe and then gave it to DH's parents the day they went home (a couple days after the wedding) and they kept it in thier safe at home until we got home from our honeymoon. We kept some cash with us to spend on our honeymoon.

I would probably keep some of the cash for the honeymoon, and then with the rest of it, I know it would take a little time, but why not bring it to the bank and deposit it (that is if your bank has a branch in FL)? Then it would definetly be safe.

Thank God for the room safe. It was very convenient. It is safe, you have the key. DH is super freaked out about security, and he was at ease with the $ in the safe.

Before we left we had the bank manger fill out everything on the packing slip FED EX and then put it in the envelope, so all we had to do was put it all in the envelope and dropped it off at the business center at the SWAN. The manager had our hotel number and the minute he signed for it, he called and left us a message

That is some awesome service & a great idea! Although I doubt that our bank would be so helpful!

We did Fed ex the cash too, we counted out ahead of time how much was in the envelope and the SWAN photocopied all the checks for us (as proof) and they also watched us count the cash we were going to put into it and signed off on the sheet that we enclosed too. (We had 2 people sign this and we videotaped it) very wierd people that we are but the bank manager was GREAT!!

Also another idea, so that we didn't have TOOOO much cash in the envelope, my parents wanted cash and so did some other family members so that they wouldn't have to worry about writing a check at the end of their stay and could put cash on the room accounts, so we traded cash for checks!!

About the bank not being as nice for some people, we thought the SAME thing, so we went ahead of time and explained out situation to the Bank Manager ONLY and told him how we felt about carrying all that around (the safe is fine, but what about the trip home?? we were too scared of pick pocketers and stuff like that, it's happened to us at the airport once--WaY TO GO THEIF as they stole my DDs tinkerbell wallet that i had at the top of the diaper bag that looked like a purse!!! all that was in there was an old smashed cookie and MAYBE an old room key that was deactivated due to magnetic problems!!)ANYWAYS....he was awesome and helped us out in every way, including giving us his business card if we experienced any problems!!

I love the bank manager fed ex idea!! We used the room safe. We also used the cash (not very much of it) and then just had checks. We really didn't get very many...more came in the mail and at our home reception...so it wasn't that bad.
