Hi All,

We leave Sunday for the drive down to Florida! This will be our first time as a family visiting Universal. My dh and I were there back in 2004. Obviously, much has changed since then!

I bought e-tickets through UT and we will have Express Pass access as we are staying onsite. Just wondering what we will be actually having to carry around with us each day when we visit the parks. Do they convert those paper tickets into a card type ticket and is there a separate ticket for EP? The kids all have new Harry Potter lanyards they are looking forward to using---I just hope there is something to put in there! HA!

Thanks for your help,

Kelly

You will each get an Express Pass with your picture on it. It's a little paper card that will fit perfectly in the lanyards. Not sure about your e-tickets as I've had an AP for years but we do have to carry that to get in so I'd guess the e-tickets will need to be carried or converted to a ticket. Sorry I'm not much help on that. Have fun and enjoy your trip.

Park Ticket
I'm not sure if you keep the print off or exchange it for a ticket. We always opt to have UT send us the real tickets in the mail. I know you have to exchange season and annual passes. Those tickets are now plastic. The same as the room key.

Either way, regular park tickets are paper, so be extra careful on water rides. It is easy for water to get down in the plastic lanyard pouches and blur the ink. It's best to buy the lanyards that zip closed if you have a regular ticket.

Room Key
Your plastic room key will double as your EP, so you'll need one of those for each person, children included.

You can also set up charging to the room key just like at Disney.

I bought our tickets as a package from Universal (no EP). Will they be on our room key, or will we have something different to carry around? In either case, I'm guessing we'll get it all sorted out when we check in (Cabana Bay)? I'm overthinking things (always do), and this thread started to make me wonder. I'm so used to WDW, and the one time we went to Uinversal in 2014 we weren't staying on site and had printed off the tickets at home.

I'm 99% sure they will give you a separate park ticket from your room key. I've never heard of tickets on room keys at Universal before. I know you could do that at Disney before bands came along, but I don't think it is a thing at Universal. However, we've had annual passes a few years now, so I'm not going to claim to be an expert on what you can do with regular tickets.

I just know you can set up charging privileges if you want and for about the last 3 to 6 months, they have started using the room key to double as the EP. Not sure how long that will last. As far as I know, those are the only two things that can be add to the room key.

We bought etickets before our trip end of September and they printed out the normal tickets(looked just like our USH APs) at the gate and do the finger scan.

APs are now plastic, color coded, and look very different from a regular park ticket.

You're saying they gave you a paper ticket similar is what the old APs looked like? I can't imagine them giving anyone plastic tickets.

Yes paper ticket, kind of business cardish sized. Think the kids may still have theirs i can try and take a pic if I find one.

We had e tickets that I exchanged for (from memory) paper tickets at the hotel at a ticket kiosk. Express pass was the room key that we each received at check in. A lanyard will be perfect :-)

Thank you all for your responses. I would have preferred to have UT ship actual tickets to us but I didn't leave myself enough time for shipping so I had to go the electronic route. I just printed them and we'll see if we can exchange for something that fits better in a lanyard. We leave tomorrow! :cheer2:

Heres a pic of the paper ticket we exchanged the eticket for, with a wdw ticket next to it for size. Wdw pass is same size as credit card for referrnce.

go to guest services in the park.
they can exchange the paper tickets and issue the actual tickets

Another option is linking your UT tickets to the Universal app. In the Wallet section of the app, I was able to link my tickets and pull them up on my phone at the gate. Probably not as convenient as a card type ticket in a lanyard, but another option.
