UGH... Looks like rain for our trip later this week/weekend!

60% chance on our CP/Illuminations night!
30% chance MVMCP night!
(I know the party itself is rain or shine)

This is a short trip and we have a pretty tight plan, so it'll be hard to rearrange if things are cancelled!

Anyone know how often these or other events are cancelled when it rains?
How had does it have to be raining?

Thanks,
IncredibleMom

THINK...."Liquid Pixie Dust" :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I've only had events cancelled when there was lightening or constant torrential (?) downpours....

Don't worry! It might not even rain! The forcast called for rain on our October trip, and it never did. Just be prepared with ponchos/umbrellas and it'll be OK. I buy the $1 ponchos at Target and throw them into the backpack we carry around the parks. Have a great time! We're flying out on Thursday! WooHoo!

Happy Holidays!

don't keep worrying. before i left for dec3-8 trip the forecast was showers everyday. when we got there the forecast changed. had no rain.

Last time we went, we had a few downpours and threats of lightening. Once they closed BTMR for a few minutes but it was reopened quickly. Then there was a pretty good storm when we were at Typhoon Lagoon and everyone had to get out of the water and into shelter. We hung out in the gift shop for a while and then decided to call it a day. I've read that they will cancel the Candlelight Processional if it's raining really hard because it's performed outside. Anyone know if this is true?

I'm with everybody else. Don't worry about the forecast unless it's a hurricane, and I don't think there's any around right now. We were supposed to have sunny skies, no rain for the week we went. Well, needless to say, we had some rain everyday and even on MVMCP. Nothing closed. It wasn't a real hard rain, just annoying. That was the most we've had rain of any of the weeks we have gone. We've been very lucky. I do know they will close Test Track when it rains, or they did when we were there.

We have sat through it a couple of times when it was raining. The performers are covered except for when they are walking in and then they just get wet. The crowds were much lighter when it was raining but they still had the show.

If the roads are slick, they will either usually cancel or scale back the parades as well.

They cancel Fantasmic! if there's a real threat of lightning.

They will postpone it (delay its start while guests sit in the open theater) if it looks like the threat will pass.

A couple years ago, HUGE storm, LOTS of lightening. Wishes was delayed till it passed, maybe 15 minutes. I have seen a rain version for the afternoon MK parade, it was neat to see something a bit different.

As far as I know, the Candlelight Processional won't be cancelled unless it's really, really raining. The performers are covered and the front seats are covered. The other seats have a tree covering that keeps out some of the rain. Umbrellas aren't allowed once the performance starts so take a poncho. We saw a performance of Blast at the Theatre and the clouds were rolling in and it started to rain. The performance went on.

To cancel Illuminations would be something monumental. I really don't think you have to worry about this at all. 60% chance of rain in Orlando could mean anything.

We went to the 11-26 MVMCP and it was drizzling for several hours. They cancelled the 1st stage show and the 1st parade was either really delayed or cancelled. We left after that as our boys were super tired. We did have plent of fun though! :santa:
