What /where is the Closest Beach to KIssimee /Disney area?

We soon will be staying in Kissimee, renting a mini van , we want one day at the Beach somewhere, a nice beach, where should we go ?? What is the closest or it is best to travel to Daytona beach -not sure how far that is away either.

The closest beach is Cocoa Beach which is about an hour straight across on 528. We usually go to the Alan Shepard park which has showers, bathrooms etc in the parking lot area.

Cocoa Beach is a great place to visit. Very easy to get to. I suggest going on a Sunday or Thursday that way you can see the Disney Dream ship in port. When you crest the hill on 528 and see the ship it is an amazing sight. And at 5:00 p.m you can watch it set sail. We usually have dinner at Fishlips http://www.fishlipswaterfront.com/ which is right on the canal where the boat leaves and we are able to see the ship leave.

As the PP said its a straight shot over there via 528 but it is also a toll road so be prepared with dollars and quarters.

The beaches on the gulf coast (Clearwater) are a bit further away, but are very nice.
