I know this thread has been posted before recently on DISboards but i really enjoyed reading it. So when do you pack and what special things do you like to take? Here's mine:

We booked our next trip a week ago for September and I have already started to make a packing list and made a list of things i need to buy. Usually we get the suitcases out 3-4 weeks before our trip and start packing them 2-3 weeks before. I usually stay up till the early hours of the morning every night for about a week checking and rechecking i have got everything i need (I get worried that i have forgotten something). I have already started a "Disney box" which i will put toiletries and Disney items in as i get them (i have put in my disney neck pillow for the plane, refillable mug, poncho, disney fan, my disney pins, safari hats).

136 days untill we fly to the magic

I pack the day before but plan along time before that!

As we go at the end of Sept we need to make sure we have plenty of summer clothes prior to the shops stocking winter stuff so we will be updating our wardrobe in june/july time

I always pack everything I think I will need, I dislike shopping so I would never plan to spend anytime going to the mall to buy something I think I might get a couple of $ cheaper

My only must have is Avon skin so soft, I find it works miracles in keeping bugs from biting me

As I have finished my itinery I may start a packing plan to fill the time for the next 5 months, 1 week & 4 days.......

I usually finish packing just as we're about to head out of the door to the airport......and pack anything and everything! :rotfl2:

As I always wash several times on holiday (sad, I know ;) ) we tend to only ever wear a tenth of our luggage :lmao:
This, needless to say, drives DH crazy

If we plan another trip though one thing I will definitely take is mosquito cream/spray.
Never been bitten in Florida before but I came home this time with a lovely, itchy example - closely resembling a 'target' - on my leg
Thank goodness for anti itch and antibiotic cream :thumbsup2

I pack the day before we go, after I have been to the hairdressers lol

But I have started my lists this weekend for our july trip to rhodes and our september trip to florida,

I have been buying bits for the holidays since christmas, I tick things off the list as I get them, and put them in a cubboard for each holiday (luckily I have a big room with spare cubboards)

I have nearly got all my smellies (being an avon rep helps lol), chris's is nearly sorted as well (he hasnt got a clue what goes in the case,). Just need a razor for him. So my smellie bags are packed 4 months ind advance lol! though I will check them again nearer the time.

I have got my hand luggage bag, and have started putting everything I need in there, such as passports (well when mine comes back) dvla, annual passes etc. And the folder I keep insurance and travel documents in,as I have 8 peoples tickets to look after this trip.

Dollars are bought, Just need airport money

oohhh and I got a lovely wallet from the disney store lol for my money.

I will plan and plan for my holiday, until the last night when I need to pack when I will suddenly not want to pack and do ANYTHING rather than pack, make sure that I have at least 2 months supply ( I am going for 15 days again) of animal food and cat litter until I drive my mother barmy (we brought a house together are we are two single ladies, my father died a couple of years ago) and she gets me to pack, where as I will pack like a looney, put anything and everything in and only wear about 1/10 of it. As for my hair its long enough for a quick trim at home, haven't been to a hairdressers for years, its waist lenth and staying that way.

I start packing the day before (having sent DH up the loft to get the cases the weekend before so I can air them) and I make sure I've got a CD playing, a dram or two of sherry or Tia Maria, and some sweeties to have while I'm packing! DH makes me mad though, as packing to him for a two-week holiday is 5 pairs of socks and pants and 4 shirts picked in just under a minute, so after giving him a good telling-off I always have to stand over him and make sure he packs enough! But after the saga with the last holiday and DH banning me from using him as a carthorse, I'll have to seriously reconsider the packing issue when we go away next time. :goodvibes I reckon I'll have to send stuff for cleaning while we're over there or wash them myself in the sink, and take old clothes to wear and then chuck out.

I tend to get the cases out of the loft about 5 weeks before and open them about 3 weeks before so they are aired. I start packing about 2 weeks beforehand, but it does tend to be repacked right up to the day before hand.

I always have a packing strategy, pack the small case inside the large case, fill the small case shut it then put towels on top, then close the case, and do the same for the second case, this one usually contains the toiletries.

Thought i would be really clever and post a picture of my suitcases - on top of the landing where they have been for the past 4 weeks (only 3 weeks left to go). It has only taken me about an hour to do this, and i have missed all of British Superbikes!!

They were full of children's clothes bought in the sales last year - which are now too small - anyone else do this?!?! The orange envelope on the top has my mousekeeping envelopes in .... note the breakfast snacks (which we won't eat but i have to take every year).

Last things to go in will be hair straighteners (another item which will be unused)

Thank you - they were a Xmas present off my husband from Browns in Chester. 2 large ones for the girls and the small one and vanity case for me. How i'm expected to fit all my clothes into the small case i don't know!! I need lessons on how to pack hard bodied suitcases cause it is totally different than normal ones - so if anyone has any good tips....!!

Not a word of a lie but I just started reading this thread and my wife has announced she's getting a case out to start putting some items in.

The fact that we don't go until 23-August seems to be irrelevant to her!
