I wanted to get a thread out about things we are on our trip. We did the Goofy's Kitchen Holiday dinner, Black Tap (twice), Cocina Cucamonga, Hungry Bear, Lucky Fortune and a few others for snacks.
Goofy's Kitchen is an every trip place for us. I love Goofy's Kitchen and so does my daughter. I will say I don't think it was worth the upcharge for the holiday dinner. In our opinion the additions weren't anything we felt were missing. Also they didn't have the popcorn shrimp and that was a huge bummer! Those little things are so good. It was a great meal and we will continue to go there but definitely not worth the upcharge to us.
Black Tap is my new favorite. We ended up going twice we liked it so much. Last trip I went and had just an appetizer and knew I wanted to go back. This time I had the loaded fries, my daughter had the chicken tenders and fries and my husband had the hot chicken sandwich, at one point we had the pickle chips and they were so good. The Cesar salad was excellent as well.
Hungry Bear is as it always is, not great but it's quick and easy.
Cocina Cucamonga was excellent as usual. We had the birria tacos and they were good as usual. I had hyped them up and was worried my husband wouldn't like them but he loved them!
Lucky Fortune was excellent for our gluten free friends. They had teriyaki chicken and both said it was very good. We didn't have the best luck for their gluten free stuff. Unfortunately it seemed like the CMs are sick or people asking for it. I had told them how awesome and easy it would be to find gluten free stuff and had to eat my words.
Our biggest bummer was Naples. I had hyped this place up and it was a fail. Our meal came out over the course of more than 30 minutes. To the point where a few of us were completely done when the last entree came out. The two gluten free dishes were cold, our waiter was nowhere to be found for most of the meal. My pepperoni pizza and Cesar was excellent. My husband's pasta was super bland. The table next to us got cracked pepper and fresh Parmesan which would have made his better but we didn't know about to until he was done with his meal. Dinner took almost two hours and we had some super cranky kids by the end. I will be giving them another try though because I'm sure it was just an off day.
I had three churro cold brews from one of the carts in DCA and they were all exceptional. I think about them still. We also had that garlic pretzel bread twice and holy moly it is good. I want to try to recreate it at home.
We had too many churros and buckets of popcorn to count, churros were fresh and yummy. My Dole whip was excellent as usual, beignets at Ralph Brennans were good. I think that about covers it. One day I want to go for like two weeks just to eat. We missed Cafe Orleans, Plaza Inn and Ralph Brennans this trip. There's always next time though!
