What made you finally decide to take off the weight? I keep thinking I just haven't hit bottom or maybe I just give up too easily. I always have it in my head that I need to get it off, eat better, excercise and I'll do really good....for a few days. I think I know what I need to do, I just never stick with it. It's very frustrating. I just don't know what it's going to take to make me, JUST DO IT.

What made you do it?

DS was in 1st grade and one of his school mates (not a friend) mooed at me and called me a big fat cow in front of my son. I knew I needed to lose weight, I knew I felt terrible about myself and I knew I didn't want my son to grow up with people calling his mom names. I decided there and then that I was going to do something about my weight and thus begun my 5-1/2 year journey of better health. I am down from over 220 pounds to 155 pounds, I am healthier than ever and happy with myself and no longer ashamed. That was my rock bottom.

I have 2 of them.

1) When I was in High School, I went by one of the "popular" girls in schools and just said Hey to her. Her response was "Shut up Fatso!" That did it then. I started exercising and lifting until my training partner got killed in a car wreck. After that, I lost my motivation.

2) I was at work one day and with every single step I took, I could feel my belly shake. Every pothole I hit, I could feel my belly shake. I know this maybe a common phenomenon but it made me sick. I came home and changed everything and ended up loosing 52 pounds in 3 months. Actually got to the point where friends were telling me that I looked like a strong wind could blow me away. I was happy because I got down to a 32.5" waist. I am getting close to that again.:woohoo:

Two defining moments for me.....
1. I was carrying my tote bag up a flight of stairs at school and had to stop at the landing to catch my breath and I thought "this just isn't right.''

2. I saw a picture of myself with my son at a school event and couldn't believe how big I was.

That's "all'' it took. I started walking everyday and eating salads for lunch. Completely cut out bread and sugar. That was about four years ago. Since then I've lost about 40 plus pounds and kept it off. My eating is not always the best, but exercise is now a big part of my life so that allows me to keep the pounds off.

A picture says a thousand words!

A few years ago I went to WDW with friends.
I'm usually the photographer because I was
not into getting my picture taken.
I had been single parent for a while and let
myself go, but didn't see it. (or didn't want to)
So...
I went to this bar and saw this incredible HOT
piano man. My friend wanted her pic taken with
the other guy playing so we got the waitress
to take our pics with our favorite guys.
It was a great trip until I got home and saw the
picture. I had no idea who the fat person was in
the picture. Eeeek! What had happened to me?
So...
That day I joined the gym and every 6 months or so
I get my picture taken again with him (or somebody
as incredibly HOT) to chart the progress lol!
so in my case it was a picture.
I have that picture posted on my fridge
and it's in my phone as a constant reminder of where
I've been and where I'm not going back to.
Now...
It's been about 100 pounds and I have been able
to run a 5k and 1/2 marathon (before I was winded going
up a flight of stairs or running across a parking lot lol)
and it's all thanks to a pretty boy who woke me up.
Now I stay on track because of another pretty boy who
won't let me slip when I feel weak or vulnerable.
He's somebody that cheers me up and makes me work
out harder than I ever have before. He'll be the reason
why I finish the Dopey in January (5k, 1/2 and full marathon).
He's my wonder twin
