Hello fellow Disney nuts!

we will be on the Western in August ... if you've gone ... what's a must see/must do? whether it's a shore excursion or something to do onboard ... share your experience with those of us who are chomping on the bit to go ...

thanks!:Pinkbounc

What was your favorite thing on the WESTERN itinerary?

Sitting on our stateroom verandah with my son, talking about everything, while keeping an eye on the Caribbean with the hope of learning any of the secrets of the sea...

I agree with BD that there is nothing better than sitting on your veranda and watching the world go by. With or without a loved one.

As for excursions - my all time favorite is Stingray City. What an amazing experience. Whether you do it through Disney or on your own with Captain Marvins or someone else - please think about doing it - Wonderful!

Both Stingray City, and swimming with the Dolphins (not the encounter) Amazing experience!

Stingray City wins it hands down this is one of the few places in the world you can experience them in a totally natural setting where they arrive (in droves) by their own free will.. totally awesome!

A few of our favorites from the Western Cruise:

Jeep Excursion in Cozumel.... breathtaking beaches, bumpy ride, beautiful skies, great lunch.

Stingray City in Grand Cayman - We used Captain Marvins and had a great time!

7 Mile Beach in Grand Cayman - Beautiful, relaxing, quiet, memorable.

Couples Massage on the Magic.

I can't wait until next summer when we return to the Magic (western) with our children and friends.

Enjoy!!!!

Stingray city was awesome!!! We did that excursion and it was lumped with a bus tour of the island, stopping at the town of Hell (which i could've done w/out but got some neat magnets), and the turtle farm--which I liked. But it would've been fun just to do the stingray city--and have more time there.

Sitting on our verandah and watching the lunar eclipse will be a lasting memory. As for excursions honeysuckle horseback riding in the Caymans was great (non-dcl) and the dolphin excursion in Cozumel was awesome

stingray city in GC is it for me...

We were fortunate enough to have a HUGE verandah on our western cruise, so standing out there watching the world go away was one of my favorite things to do! Watching the ship back into CC was also an awesome thing. We had as many as 15 people out there at one time...

Everybody seems to have loved Stingray City, but since our cruise missed Grand Cayman, we can't say that!! But the fact that we missed GC led to one of my favorite memories of that cruise, because we got into Cozumel that night. :)

A group of us went into Cozumel at about 11 PM. We went to Carlos and Charlie's, then to Senor Frogs and we had a blast!
I had a really bad headache the next morning, but oh well!! ;)
Most of the crew was given shore leave that night, and we saw dozens of them at Senor Frogs enjoying themselves, instead of waiting on us!! It was a really fun time that never would have happened if we'd stopped in GC, so I guess there was some good in the bad, so to speak.

Thanks for all the great replies ... Stingray City looks like it's a MUST! We have done the swim with dolphins (at Port Lucaya) and that was definitely the hi-light of that trip! I'm hoping that with the 7 day cruise I will have more time to enjoy the verandah, on the 4 day we did not use it as much as I would have hoped! counting the days .... :Pinkbounc

I believe DH and boys would say Stingray City
ME? having brunch in Palo while docking in Key West!!!!:bounce:

We went in December and are looking to book in March again.

Key West: Key Lime pie!!! and watching the sunset...oh wait, we didn't get to see the famous sunset as it was cloudy!:( Guess that just leaves Key Lime pie!!:)

Grand Caymen: Most definately NOT the island tour!! Too rushed and cramped. We did enjoy Stingray City, although not sure what all the hype is for?? It wasn't THAT great! (please note that I am one of those people that do NOT like creatures swimming near, around, or by me):)

Cozumel: The jeep tour!!!!!:bounce: :bounce: Tons of fun, but very dirty, plan to head to the ship and shower before shopping or eating.

Castaway Cay: Sunning, Konk Coolers, swaying in a hammock, (did I mention the Konk Coolers?):)

Watching a night shuttle launch right after we left Port Canaveral. We were on one of the plague ships and left port late which means we were pretty close to shore when it launched.

Stingray City is cool, but we also had fun shopping in GC.

Chankanaab in Cozumel is a fabulous park, and dirt cheap.

Riding a moped all over Coz.

After 3 cruises we finally made it to Palos. My wife and I aren't that into the romance dining thing, but the chocolate souffle...oh my. Never again will I miss it.

Aft deck 7 is a cool place to hang if you don't have a verandah, and it's nice when leaving PC or CC.

Kayaking in the mangroves in KW -- I'd done the bar hopping, t-shirt buying, sunset watching thing several times before.

My favorite thing was Stingray City with Capt. Bryan. The water is awesome. Running a close second was having fun at Fat Tuesdays in Cozumel :sunny:

Our favorite excursion was Playa Sol in Cozumel. The sand was soft and the water was extremely warm! I'm accustomed to swimming in the oceans of Maine (brrr). This was a TREAT! I was occassionally surprised when I got salt water in my mouth because it was so warm I forgot I was in ocean water.

There are also lots of other things to do there, but that was my highlight.

We did the stingray excursion also & the stingrays freak me out! LOL Unfortunately for me... it was a highlight for our ds so I suspect I'll be stuck going again unless I opt to stay on the ship (which sounds like a good idea to me! LOL)
