One of my favorite dinners as a kid was when Mom would make a bunch of sandwiches with different feelings and condiments, cut them into quarters, and pile them all on a platter so that you could sample a little bit of each. We'd usually also have some kind of soup with them. We got to request a special dinner for our birthdays, and that's what I always chose.
In high school, my favorite was bologna and cheese with mustard on one slice of bread, yellow mustard on the other, and a layer of potato chips.
