This year we saw many celebrities behaving badly. There was Kanye West showing his true colors at the VMA's. Lindsay Lohan at... well anymore. Chris Brown not only wears a wife beater, but is one. Jon and Kate. David Letterman's late night escapades. Tiger Woods and his (what are they up to now, about 50) mistresses. Charlie Sheen, who may just be 1/2 a man. The list goes on...
For me, I enjoyed the Carrie Prejean meltdown best. She is the Miss California USA winner who started a firestorm by saying that she was against gay marriage. Okay, putting aside her Neanderthal views on the subject, she turned into the gift that keeps on giving. This beauty contestant who rallied around her "moral Christian values" (no offense to actual moral Christians) was caught in a nude photo scandal. Her defense was that she was only seventeen and had a lapse in judgement. It turned out that she was over eighteen and in fact had many lapses in judgement, as there were dozens of photos. As a result of the photos, she was stripped of her Miss California title. As it turns out, this was not the only time she was stripped. She had also stripped for some racy sex tapes that she had been sending to a boyfriend. Again, she tried the under seventeen/lapse of judgement defense. Of course, this defense also proved futile when it was discovered that she was twenty when the video was made and had eight lapses of judgement where she personally filmed herself in various sex acts. She topped off her year by appearing on the Larry King Show and accusing him of being "inappropriate".
Bravo to you Miss Prejean for being my personal favorite celebrity meltdown of 2009!
