What was the meanest thing a family member ever said or did to you?

Wow, I have been reading this, because like everyone else, I wanted to know if any one could top my story. Some really did! What I have gathered from this are two things-

1) People are really most affected by their parents and what they say, so much more than I realized. Taught me to really watch what I say to my kids and I may need to stop the "You are out of the will " jokes with them. I also need to calm down about my DD6's drama she brings home as she will remember my reaction more than the actual drama!

2) I am not alone! I really thought I was! I thought most parents were wonderful and loving and I got stuck with the emotionally abusive dad and the drunk mother- I didn't mention her in my original post becasue she was a happy drunk! I liked to be told I was the favorite (my sisters were told that too!) and how much she loved me. The drunk was the good one.

I am sitting here in mamazement at how fortunate I am to have had the family I have.

I am also totally in awe of all of oyu who have had such terrible things happen and have risen above them.
