What was the last HG you were able to get?

I love hearing stories about how people made the "big trade" So tell us all what is the story of your HG trade?

I have been searching for the HM Translucent pins for ever. I got my first the 3rd in the series pretty easy. Sponored someone and bingo.
For the others I have been begging, pleading and searching for a year. Every offer rejected, every beg, a sorry. I had just about given up hope when "What is this an email about the TRanslucent?" I thought ok who is teasing me now. What pin person is torturing me. But no, it is a name I recgonize, this could be it!
Bingo after 3 emails back and forth and a years worth of begging, pleading, bribing and crying is mercifully ended. I am the owner of the 2nd Translucent in the series.


Now the 1st is my new quest, who knows mayeb a year from now I get to post that story!!

So what's your story? Even if it wasn't your HG, tell us all. We love these stories.

I mailed off a trade that will bring me a pin that has been on my want list for a <i>long</i> time:

Pin 592: Animal Kingdom Discovery River Boats

This is probably not a true holy grail, but it is a very special trade for me because it was arranged by my DS#2, Josh (DieHardDonald).

We've been trading pals right from the start of our addiction. Lately he has embraced my want list <i>as his own</i>. Some sort of silly notion that he "owes me" for the pins I've bought for him in the past.

Considering he's 16 now, I know I'm very lucky we still have this hobby to share.

I really loved the snowman motif that year and I wanted that pins but I had no traders anywhere close to that pin.

Sadly, this is no great trade story but I am happy to say they released some at the Company D store lately and I bought one off of ebay and wasn't really expensive so I got my sort of grail after all!!!!

After posting on any "what's your holy grail" thread I found, I finally got my WDCC Belle Dreaming of a Great Wide Somewhere pin. Yea!

During our December vacation, we were lucky enough to have the Santa's Pin List pin chase open up. We went to all the parks, we went on an afternoon romp over to the Poly and BW. So, our final stop would naturally be the place where the completor pin was offered. For this event, it was at DTD Pin Traders. Well, while we were able to get a completor pin, we were out of luck on the Santa Mickey pin that was offered there as part of the set. We both were very upset. This was going to be our first set and a holiday set that would also help document our trip. We were very bummed.

Well, I got home and Ashley was kind enough to locate a non-completed completor pin for me. Which was very cool. We didn't think to get two cards filled out for the chase to be able to finish one out and have a blank one. So, in a way, she took care of a minor grail. We had completed our pin with a Nemo.

As for the Santa's Pin List Mickey, I was able to trade a MVMCP pin for it. You have no idea how glad I was to get that trade offer. It really made my day! We did a little happy dance when the pin actually arrived.

So, we have our first completed set! Now, my HG's are the pins that I need to complete the Wild About Safety set. I am looking for #7, #9, and #11. One day....
