What was the extra security over 4th of July at BLT?

Friend has told me about an extra wrist band for those at Monorail resorts. Harder to get to TOTW? Any problem if you were staying there. Looking to our BLT December 30 stay and wondering.

Yes, and also December 30 and July 3rd. We often have stayed at BLT then, we do own there.

Someone has told me that on July 4th you needed an extra wristband to even get into the monorail resorts. I want to know if that is accurate. I was told this was on Facebook Disney Vacation Club Neighbors or something like that.

I’ve stayed at BLT over July 4th and New Years in the past and never received any extra wrist band. I think it’s premature to assume it was based on security. I also think it’s irresponsible to discuss security procedures online.

We were at Grand Floridian week of July 4 2017 and there were no wristbands or additional screening measures.

I saw these photos too of people wearing paper wristbands. It is hard to believe they actually controlled the monorail crowds. I don't know why you would need to make folks at BLT wear another band, as they would still need to scan your wristband at some point to make sure you are staying at BLT.

They give out paper wristbands for special ticketed events like Dessert Parties and Food & Wine Events. Particularly when those events also involve moving from one location to another (to see the fireworks, etc.). Perhaps it was something like this?

MY concern is that if you checked out on the 31 you should still be able to use TOTW that night. That is what I had been assured of. The Magic Band will have me at another resort. It has never happened in previous years that they gave out those paper bands, or not in years I have been. We do go often for those special days.

IMO you definitely should be able to do as you plan as you are permitted the use of the resort the next day and since the fireworks end before midnight I would think you would be eligible for TOWL viewing too. Although technically that has the possibility of double the number of people at the TOTWL fireworks. Which is highly doubtful that many let alone most would check out on the morning of the fireworks. The MB would still show that you checked out of BLT that day.

We have a one night reservation at BLT for Dec 30. When I booked it I asked the CM if we would be able to go to TOWL on the check out day , Dec 31 , and she put me on hold while she asked a supervisor and I was told "no". Luckily, MK does the same fireworks on Dec 30 and Dec 31 so we are just going to see them at TOWL on Dec 30 since that is the night we are actually spending at BLT.

The Poly had wristbands for the pool and I believe for the beach. The crowds were massive and they had to allow resort guests space on the beach. Special barricades were set up to allow resort guests premium space. I do believe that you could be there but just not within the barricades.
