What was Bruni supposed to do and why was he important to Frozen II?

In Frozen II I kept seeing a cute salamander that is named Bruni and I'm curious to know what role did he have in Frozen II? Because I kept seeing plushies of him and he was one of the cutest characters in the movie and seemed to be the scene stealer of the movie? Was Bruni Anna and Elsa's pet and what does Bruni actually do?

Bruni is one of the elements, he is fire.
The rock monsters are earth, the horse Nok is water and the leaves called Gail are wind.

Together they are the four elements and Elsa is the fifth combining them all.

And besides that, he is meant to be cute and sell merchandise.

Oh, so that's who Bruni is in Frozen II? I often wondered why they chose the name Bruni for him? But he is adorable and really cool and I even got his plushie too
