Can you please tell me which are the Vacation Club Resorts? and which one you would stay at? How easy is it to rent points from someone? Thanks for any info!! :wave2:

Two DVC resorts at WDW are:
Old Key West
Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa

These two are standalone resorts.

There are also three resorts "attached" to Disney hotels:
Villas at Wilderness Lodge
Boardwalk Villas
Beach Club Villas

Off-site there are:
Hilton Head Island
Vero Beach

Which one to stay at depends on your own personality, and what you want to get out of your trip. OKW and SSR offer a lot of relaxation, resort activities, and time away from the parks. BWV and BCV are within walking distance of both Epcot and Disney-MGM Studios. And VWL is just a boatride away from the Magic Kingdom.

You can do a little more research on all the DVC resorts by visiting the DVC website.

to rent points go to the rent/trade section of the DVC boards lots of people to answer renting questions. Most people with whom I spoke to that rented points had a very easy transaction and have done it time and time again.

Ok so lets say I wanted to go the beginning of June at the Beach Club Villas. I would need 123 points then for a week rental? :confused3

If you want BCV in June, you might be too late. That is one of the smaller DVC resorts, and that is only 2 months out.

Yes, that's correct - if you would be, say, checking into a BCV studio on Sunday, June 4th, and checking out on Sunday, June 11th. If you were to check out on Saturday, June 10th, instead - you would be looking at 94 points.

(But Diane's right... availability will likely be an issue at this point.)

No I'm not looking until tenatively next year maybe May I don't know yet. I was just trying to get a grasp on how this all works. Thanks for the Info!! :thumbsup2

Your best bet is to start looking on the Rent/trade boards on this site. people that own BCV have 11 months to make reservations. Those are the ones you want to look for first. If there are none available. You can rent points from anyone else, but they only have a 7 month window. You get the extra 4 months if it's their home resort

On a personal note: I've stayed at only 3 DVC resort. They're all great. But if I was going down to hit the parks, I would stay at BWV or BCV. Just for the walking distance to the parks

Do you really get a good deal by doing this? What are the Beach Club and Boardwalk like? Would you recommend them? How much would you think it would cost to rent points for a week?

That depends on your definition of a good deal. I haven't rented any points. and I probably won't for at least another year. It seems that most people are renting their points in the $9-$11 per point range. so if you needed 125 points for a particular week. It would cost somewhere around $1250. Now that's expensive considering that is just the room. You would still need transportion to WDW, park tickets, and $ for food, souveniers, etc...
Now on the other hand if you are dead set on staying at a DVC resort but can't get anyone to rent you the points. The studio rooms(if available) go for $250 + per night. That's where the 1250/7 nights(rented points) is a good deal. If you're not dead set on a DVC resort you could stay at one of the value resort for possibly $59/night. They have package deals for Rooms/tickets/dining that are around $1700 for 7 days 6 nights for 4 people. I know I see them all the time in our local paper.

Now DVC resorts are also the equivelant of a deluxe resort. At least in my mind they are.
I can't comment on the BW, i've never stayed there. But I have stayed at BCV. I love the Beach club. you can walk to EPCOT and MGM studios. To me it felt like a 1 minute walk to EPCOT's international gateway entrance. Maybe 15 minutes to MGM. Both BWV and BCV are on the same body of water. They're only a couple minute walk away from each other.
I would recommend both. But there isn't a resort that I wouldn't recommend. I don't think there is a resort down there that you could be wrong about staying at. Each resort has something different to offer whether it be a location near a certain park, a fance resort pool, restaurant the you enjoy or diffent kinds of transportations offered.

On the other hand, rack rate for a standard view room for a week in May or June (2006) at either the Beach Club or Boardwalk is $2,415.

Watch out renting can get you hooked, I did and now own.

yes it is a great savings for you to rent points. at 12 dollars a pt if you stay sun-thu (5 days) you will save in many cases 40% of what a room would cost you if you paid a cash rate.

Another savings is that you rent points for the room and are not charged extra for additional adults, nor do you pay taxes on the room. And you can add on the Disney Dining Plan without having to buy any particular tickets. You do have to have the plan for everyone in the room for your length of stay.

Mary has some description of renting points at www.mousesavers.com

But as others have said, this can be costly. I rented points 3 times, and we ended up buying DVC :tink: :woohoo:

Thank you all so much for the information. I think I will look into renting points for our next trip. Now which resort would you recommend? Can anyone tell me what a studio is like and how roomy is it? Would it accomodate 4 comfortably? :woohoo:

4 adults no.

there is a queen bed and a double sleeper sofa.

2 adults and 2 children will work nicely.

the only DVC resort that has 2 queens in their studio is OKW.

Studios are different sizes in different DVC's.

OKW's are the largest
SSR's are second
and BWV,BCV,and WLV are the smallest. But they are still larger than most hotel rooms.

I just stayed at BCV in a studio. We were 4 adults and 1 child. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. We did ask for a 1 bdr or another studio, but none were available.

Click here to take a virtual tour of ALL of the DVC resorts and the different room types of each. Just follow the links to the hotels you're interested in. You can also click on the "accommodations" link of each hotel and a blueprint of each unit will pop up as well. This site also lists all of the amenities that come with the rooms.

DVC can be addicting. Many of us on this forum are addicted. You've been warned. ;)

You do realize these are timeshares and not hotel rooms, don't you? That means no mousekeeping service (except a trash & towel service only on day 4). However you leave the room in the morning is how you'll find it when you come back. Make your own beds, etc.
