I have a quick question we are staying at AOA in a few weeks and we have the dining plan. We will be using our quick service credit for breakfast in landscape of flavored a few times the week we are there. My question is what do I get exactly? For ex. Meal 2 drinks? Plus fruit or donut? Etc? Can someone answer this for me so when I get there I am prepared and won't have to bug the Disney people a zillion times! Lol thanks :)

For a QS credit at breakfast all you get is the entree and a drink. That's it. Even with free dining, it's not a great value. What will you be doing for your other meals?

We have 3 breakfast ressies
Akershus
1900 Park Fare
Ohana

The rest we have dinner ressies
Fantasmic mama Melrose
CRT
Chef mickeys
Via Napoli
Garden grill

How many in your party, and how old? Last time we went, my daughter (then 4) and I would share one breakfast platter in the morning when we used the QS credit for breakfast. It's a LOT of food (something like 2 eggs, a Mickey waffle, 2 bacon, 2 sausage and a biscuit) Then I'd get her a juice with it and I'd get coffee in my resort mug. We only did 3 breakfasts at the resort out of 10 mornings, though.

My suggestion would be to use your snack credits for breakfast and your refillable mug for your drink, and save your QS for lunch and dinner, but if you're going to end up with QS credits leftover, then definitely use them for breakfast. You should be able to get a Bounty Platter to share (use 1 snack credit to fill in if needed), still use your refillable mugs for a drink, and get a bottled drink with your credit to use later on in the day or the next day with your snack breakfast.

I agree, these people have given you some great ideas.
Using your Counter credits for breakfast is not the best use.
Instead use them the opposite of whatever meal you're having TS., like lunch or dinner.
Or, buy using less at breakfast, like some have suggested with the bounty platter.
You could also get a milk as a drink option, if that is important to you.
Or, if you don't want to use snack credits at breakfast, you could OOP buy a few cinnamon rolls at the food court and buy a thing of milk at the resort gift shop to keep in your room for quick breakfasts on the days you aren't having a breakfast buffet.

As for as getting your $ worth, yes it's best to eat a QS lunch and dinner. However, I found that it's an enormous amount of food to eat in a relatively short length of time if you use your credits later in the day. It isn't so bad if you are hanging around your resort all day, and can take desserts back to your room.
I felt better and didn't have that overly full stuffed feeling if I ate a QS breakfast, used my snack credit around lunch, then ate a QS dinner.
My son is another story he pre-eats, eats, and post-eats, and then some!:rotfl2:
The best thing to do is try it and see what works for you and your family.:)

Do the smoothies at the resorts (value) count as the drink or the dessert? Are there any resort desserts that are not on the dining plan?

Yes, the smoothies can be gotten as a snack, except for the create-your-own option, like at Landscapes of Flavor. I'm pretty sure they are also a dessert option. I know of no desserts at the food courts that aren't allowed but the best thing to do is ask the server or cashier if there are any exclusions. They will know for sure.

If you haven't checked out the confirmed snacks list, the link is in my siggy below. It lists a confirmed snack options.

Entree (or combo meal) and one beverage for breakfast. The extra beverage was discontinued in 2011. Sides (that do not accompany a combo meal) are not included. You may be able to get a continental breakfast at resorts, they list this as one baked good, one piece of fruit, and a beverage.
