What type of Video Camera do you use?

I'm still trying to accept the fact that apparently so many people now seem to think that their cell phone is an acceptable substitute for a still camera and then this thread comes along too! Wow! And a GoPro as a "standard" video camera? Wow again!

And people can't even get the orientation right when shooting with said cell phone!

well, start getting use to that fact! most people use a cell phone camera because the pics are generally good enough for "social media".

I got a GoPro last year for underwater and I'm obsessed with it. I thought I'd really hate the no zoom feature, but I don't miss it. It zooms pretty well in post editing if you want. I also love the screen grabs. I got underwater housing for my Sony camera and ended up loving the GoPro grabs more!

Oh I own 2 GoPros, a Sony A2000 and several other "action cams." They are great for what they are. I enjoy them at the pool, the water parks and on my Harley. Other places also, but they are no substitute for a real video camera. Sometimes I don't want the telephone poles to look like cross bows.

I am as guilty as anyone of "photography of convenience." I will never argue that the camera you have with you to use is the best camera in the world. What I will argue is that an attack that can be planned deserves the best equipment you can afford to use if you really care enough to do it correctly. That equipment will seldom be a cell phone camera or an action cam (unless you're in water, of course). That's all I'm saying.

Technology has come a long way. At one time you needed a video camera and a still camera.

Now you can get still cameras that shoot in 4K
