I know there have been tons of polls here regarding the potential ticket media discount for DVC members. However, I couldn't find one that just asked the basic question of:

What type of ticket media have you purchased most often since becoming a DVC member?

The AP can be a double edge sword.

We love the freedom is provides, but we seem to have to "Squeeze in one more trip" before it expires to feel like we got our worth of it.

Now - our dilemma - 3 of our AP's expire in April, while my 3-year old DS's is good until October. So now we have to "squeeze in" an extra trip and take advantage of the AP discounts our son's AP will provide! :earboy2:

If AP's weren't retroactive to when the old ones expired, we might consider, but sometimes we have months between visits and it isn't worth paying for lost time. We usually do 7-day PHP's.

Used to be "none." I was a DS CM. Until this past Feb., I got in free. DH used the 4 comp passes I would receive each year. And not too long ago, DD was under 3. Ahh- those were the days!

We bought an AP for DD in Oct. '03 and then bought an AP for me when we returned in Feb. '04 (right after TDS CMs lost their free admittance).

We're squeezing in one last trip while my AP is still good. We have only two comps left for DH. Don't know what kind of pass we'll get for DD this time; I'm keeping my fingers crossed for some kind of DVC discount.

At least DS (18 mos) still gets in for free!

We often buy the UPH. It probably should be included among the poll choices, since it's the only pass currently discounted by DVC.

I assumed this was the LOS (Length of Stay) option in the poll...

Straight PH - and usually for only 40% of the days we are actually on site.

We are AP people. We tend to do 7 to 9 night trips in May and December. This yr and next yr we are skipping the December stay and going on a 7 day Disney Cruise. So this yr we booked May 7-14 and next yr we will go a week earlier. Normally we get 3 full week trips out of an AP and purchase a new one when we return. We have not renewed our passes since they changed the rules about starting the day after they expire.

We were considering a 7 day park hopper to split between the 2 May vacations, but if the AP discount is correct, we will most definetly be getting AP or PAP in May! I was really worried I would want a meal in a theme park on a day I did not have a pass for and not be able to do it!;) We have gotten AP since before our DVC purchase, I think it changes the way you think about going into parks!

The AP's are only retroactive to the original date if you are renewing. You can let the old ones expire and then buy a new one on your next trip. Here's how it's worked for me:

March '03 got an AP. Used it for that trip, one in Sept. 03, and then one last trip in March '04 before the expiration date.

October '04, bought a new AP. Will use it for March '05, and then again in October '05 before it expires.

We are an AP family,

Once I buy them it's easier to convince my wife that we have to take 3-4 trips to get our money's worth (hehe)

and now rumors of a fairly large discount for AP's! :jumping1:

We have primarily used PH. With the new discount, we will almost surely go to AP's or even PAP's. Which means we will be spending more time in the parks than we have the past few trips.

I think we were part of Disney's "target audience" for this one. :)

We have purchased AP for a while now but in the past we would normally skip a year between purchases and visits. With the discount they are talking about, we may not have to skip a full year anymore to stay within budget.

It always seems to be Penny wise and Pound foolish not to buy the AP's/ At first I bought length of stay. Then crunching the numbers I realized for Ap's it was around 70 more per person. So now only Ap's. I stagger my trips to take the second before the expiration of the AP's. At least thats what I tell myself. But I always end up with 3 or 4 trips on Ap's. Cause you know it's al;ready paid for and all.

What did I miss what discount atre we talking about on AP"S? Would this be DVC discount?

APs here. We always get at least 2 trips out of them. Last year we got 21 days and this year 19 days.
