I am still trying to determine what shore excursion would be best and got to thinking the Atlantis might be fun but it states lots of walking. I can't imagine walking with a big bag. DO you use a backpack?> Is this a hasle? ANy suggestions would be helpful. I have 3 children so not sure it would be practical or safe to not carry a bag along.

Thanks :earboy2:

our DSs were 2 & 4 at the time. and we still carried a backpack with us, so it was no big deal. we just had our DS 2's extra set of clothes, diapers, swim diapers, wipes, etc. we didn't take a whole lot. came in handy, to put our wallet, camera, bottled water, etc. in it. wasn't a bother for us. when we went snorkeling, we had our beach bag. which fit more stuff, like towels & things, which were more "bulkier". but we preferred our backpack. now that our DSs are a year older, we are in "transition" from having to carry a backpack. now i have a purse, which is a whole new world for me, since it's been a while since i've carried a purse! the backpack WAS my purse! :flower:

We always use a backpack, whether we're with the kids or not.

When we go on excursions, it almost always involves a beach. So, we always need towels. I have the extra large LL Bean Boat and Beach that I bring with me. It holds everything we need, and our towels. Either DH or I will carry it, I have the long handle so I can carry it on my shoulder. A backpack just wouldn't work for us, especially with towels necessary. It's also GREAT to use as a carryon bag after the trip is over with all the extra souviners we collect.

We usually use a backpack but if it involves the beach we need a backpack plus a boat and tote. We have 3 DDs.

We went to Atlantis on our trip last fall and carried a backpack b/c of all the walking. Just a thought about towels: if you book a day room at Atlantis to use the pools, you can use their towels, but you'd also have a room to store stuff in. If you do the Beach Day through Disney, they give you towels. And if you just do the aquarium and walk around Atlantis, you don't need towels!!

So to make a short answer long, for Atlantis I would recommend a backpack! lol

Our backpack (normal size) also rolls - it has wheels and a telescoping handle, so we can pull it when on smooth pavement. We also use it as our airline carry-on/diaper bag. It's great.

Thanks for asking that question. I was wondering the same thing. I just got a LLBean boat bag, so it's nice to see that someone else suggested it!
