My husband would like to know if any of the restaurants at the Animal Kingdom Lodge serve any of the more ?interesting animals? (I.E. something besides the usual Cows, Chickens, Fish and that sort?) He is thinking along the lines of Oryx, Buffalo, Elk, etc?..

Yeah, strange question, but he is a Carnivore! At least he didn?t ask if hunting was allowed off the balconies. He has some couth. Not much, but some.

Not sure about AKL- I know they serve African Cuisine, with lots of spices but the only meat I saw at Boma was chicken and prime rib....I don't know about Jiko though. I can't imagine that they would serve any animal that might have a close relative walking out on the savannah, but you never know. I think I heard Artist Point at WL serves buffalo, if that helps.:D

The most 'exotic' meat on the menu is duck. Jiko also has lamb but I'd hardly call that exotic. I think the idea is more to view the zebra than to eat of it's hind leg. ;)

Try Boma or Jiko anyway. Truly fantastic food.

Must tell you...I laughed so hard at the subject line that it didn't even matter what the thread said. Thanks for the chuckle!!!

If he likes the more exotic stuff, take him over to Artist Point. They serve halibut, rabbit, deer and buffalo. He should be able to find something to eat. ;)

I hear zebra tastes like chicken so they decided to just serve chicken and save the hassel.

;) ducking and running......

Artist Point serves Buffalo, Ostrich, Venison (Bambi), Rabbit, etc.

After that subject line I just had to open this thread. What a hoot! LOL!

I'm just waiting for a vegetarian to get offended.

I hope no one would get offended.

But I must admit, when I first saw the subject line I did picture guests wandering the savannah with fork and knives! (no flaming please:p )

hmmm, it's got me curious now. I wonder what those Zebra Domes are? They sort of looook like.............:p

LOL...........and I pictured all those people picking out which one they wanted ......
You know like when you go to a seafood place and you get to pick out the lobster you want!!!! :jester:

What are "elephant ears" anyway!!!!! LOL:jester:

Hey, shmoogrrrl, I thought I was the only one with a DH with no couth. DH asked me the exact same question!

I'm laughing so hard I have tears running down my face. Can you imagine PETA's reaction to the subject line!?!?!

Anne

Vegetarian laughing here....DH is a big carnivore, too! Your post reminded me of a funny story. We were at a VERY fancy restaurant once, and DH ordered an antelope entree...so he asks the waiter, mostly as a joke and partly for a serious answer...What kind of wine do you recommend to go with the antelope...The waiter never skipped a beat, just rattled off some wine suggestion, as if that were a common question and the answer should have been obvious! I thought that it was very funny!

Bon apetit!

I had the buffalo at AP and WOW is it GOOD and so is the rock fish... shmoogrrrl I too love exotic and different food and AP is MY kinda place.

Tried sneaking a BlowGun and some A1 into AKL but a nice cast member stopped me LOL

Dang --- guess I will have to change my ressies. I thought you could bag your own game off the balcony at AKL;) :teeth:

We just got back, and I tried the African Stew at Mara...it had some chunks of dark meat (looked like beef) and white meat (looked like chicken), however neither had a texture or taste that I recognized. We meant to ask them what kind of meat it was, but I was afraid to before we actually ate it as I am a picky eater. :) Does anyone know what kind of meat they put in the African Stew?

I can't imagine that they would serve any animal that might have a close relative walking out on the savannah, but you never know
Well they do serve fish at the Coral Reef....
