Welcome to my PRE-TRIP report! This will be my First Official Trip Report, so bear with me.
Me, Ben, 31 yo, I've been a huge Disney fan for years. Was fortunate enough to have parents to were able to bring me and my brothers to Disney almost every year when I was younger. Former Disney Cast Member (CP 2001-02)
DW, Char, 26 yo, DW is definitely a fan of Disney, she is originally from England. She is a stay at home mommy, so this vacation is a get away for her. (she also will be turning 27 on our trip, so some surprises are in store
)
DS, P: DS will be 22mo at the time of our trip. This will be his first Disney Trip. He adores Mickey and Pooh.
June 1-4, 2012. Initially, we were going to take P on his first trip next year. However, when we found out we were expecting our 2nd child (October), we wanted to take a quick trip with just the three of us to 'spoil' P. As we are still planning on going back next year, this trip will just be a quick weekend getaway.
Disney's Contemporary Resort. We went back and forth on this one for a while. Save $ and stay at AS Sports, Upgrage a little and stay at Carribean Beach or splurge and stay at a Delux Resort. After some consideration, we booked up our stay at the Wilderness Lodge Resort.
WAIT A MINUTE! Didn't I just say we were staying at the Contemporay?
Ok, so as I mentioned, I use to work as a Disney Cast Member. We made the decision to book this trip quickly. The day we were making our reservations, I emailed a couple of my buddies who still work at WDW to see if they had any 'discounts' to share.
I hadn't heard back from anyone, so I decided to go ahead and book up our trip using the 20% Spring Discount that Disney was offering. The Contemporary was our first choice as it was on the monorail and would be the easiest for us to travel between the resort and the parts with P in a stroller. However, even with the 20% discount, the price was more than we could handle. So we booked up our reservation at The Wilderness Lodge!
The day after I booked this up, one of my Disney friends called me back and said she could get me a 50% Discount on the rooms and tickets!
THANK YOU
THANK YOU
THANK YOU
With this discount, we were able to change our reservation from the Wilderness Lodge to the Contemporary AND save money!!
So we took advantage of it.
Our last trip to WDW was in 2007. DW and I went down for our Honeymoon (5 days at WDW and 4 night cruise). We went in August and we experienced record Highs the whole time we were at WDW. Some days were just unbearable. We're hoping early June will still be cool enough for us.
So there you have it. 4 Days, 3 Nights at the Contemporary Resort with DW and 22mo old DS, P. Not sure if we're prepared to take on the World at a slower pace than we're use to, but no matter what happens, we're excited to experience WDW for the first time through P's eyes.
