what touring approach to use

Hi all,
I am used to WAAAAYYYYY overplanning for WDW, but I am not sure how to approach US and IOA. I understand (from prior questions I have asked) that since we will be staying on-site we really won't needs a "touring plan" designed to avoid lines since we will have FOTL. But I am still looking for advice on how to approach touring.
Who we are:
5 adults: 21, 44, 44, 45, 46
2 kids: 9 and 11

When: December 12 and 13

Is there a specific way you tour? Order or rides? Start at entrance and do Shrek first? Go to the back of the park and start with Jaws?

Any and all suggestions welcome for both parks!

I'm going to move this to the main board as I think more people will respond.

My advice would be to start at the front as Jaws usually opens an hour or so after park opening. I pretty much go in order except for Terminator, Horror Makeup, and the shows. I look on the map for the show times and hit those in the afternoon.

your dates of dec 12 and 13 are a friday and saturday.

not bad for crowds at that time period but the saturday.
saturdays always have more people in them than during the week.

I am by no means an expert but we usually go in the summer during some of the busiest times and if you are staying onsite you really don't need a plan .
Just take your time do and see what you want and ride favorites alot cause my youngest DS loved the simpsons and he wanted to ride it everytime we passed it and with fotl we were able to get in real quick.
so relax and have a great time

even with fotl, i still like to get to the parks early. ride hulk first, front row. then go to spiderman, and ride a couple of times. then go to jurassic park, and then dueling. then posieden, then have an early lunch at mythos. do any other shows, and then the water rides, dr. doom and any of your favorites to do over and over. go to hotel and change.

i stay on site and get to the gates at 8:20 in the morning.
