going to disney first week of december 2006 what's the weather like can you wear shorts or do you have to wear pants and long sleeves

Well we used to go every year at that time and let me say it is the BEST time to go to Disney IMHO> Some years we wore shorts but there was this one year it was SO cold that we had to purchase wool hats and mittens. I for one cannot say give you one type of dressing or another. I would say bring a little of each so you can dress in layers. I would also if possible get a few cheap pair of those tiny stretch gloves at the dollar store and a few hats (if you have kids). It is better to be prepared than be at the mercy of disney when it comes to prices for these things. If you have access to a car do not worry about it just jump in the car and pick up warmer things if necessary at Wal Mart.
Let me tell you the year it was so cold luckily we had each brought one pair of long pants but they were summer weight. I remember my kids wanting to keep their pj's on under their pants just to keep warm. LOL. We needed to purchase sweat shirts and the kids dressed in layers. We come from the NE so cold is not new to us but maybe it was just that we were so surprised that it could be so cold in Fla.

I'm going to move this to the planning & Strategy Board for you. :)

Unfortunately, you never know about winter weather in Orlando. A lot depends on what you are used to. The temps could be in the 70's or even low 80's in December. You will probably need a jacket at night and early morning. The best way to tell is watch the Weather Channel or check an online weather forecaster for Orlando the week before you go. You could be swimming or freezing, you won't know until December. We love going then, because, we're pretty sure in Pennsylvania, where we're from, it will be cold and maybe even snowing. Anything beats that. :earseek: :earsgirl: :earsboy:

I think it's best to bring a little of both. Couple pairs of shorts and jeans.

we were there this past Dec and it was cold..well not as cold as what we left but certainly NOT shorts weather.I packed 2 pr of jeans and long sleeved shirts for both of us and we ended up buying sweatshirts. Thankfully we had brought the mittens and winter jackets especially for MVMCP. it would not have been so bad but it was windy too. I think it could be anything pay close attention to the weather before you leave. pack so you could wear layers and wear things interchangably....most of all have a great time it's beautiful at the holiday time! :sunny:

We were there at the end of November last year and most days jeans and a t-shirt were fine all day, then a sweatshirt or hoodie over that at night. Some days were positively hot! We were able to go swimming a couple of the nights, and while the heated pool was warm, the night air outside of the pool made us all squeal.

Having been there a few times in late November/December, I have learned to pack for the unexpected. Coming from up North, I'll wear a sweatshirt over a short sleeved shirt and jeans on the plane, but will always pack t-shirts and shorts, as well as a pair of yoga pants.

My philosophy is better safe than sorry. If I don't wear the sweatshirt or pants the whole trip (until the day I have to go home to the chilly :cold: New England weather) than great :sunny: , but I would rather have them sitting there the whole trip, than to spend alot of $$ buying new clothes.

When I went in 2003, was in a t-shirt and shorts during the day, but pants and a sweatshirt in the evenings, as it got cool out. In 2002, they had a cold snap :cold: on a few days, so was glad to have the heavy sweatshirt and pants. Saw people at the TTC in just a t-shirt and shorts freezing, then running into the Magic Kingdom to buy warmer clothes.

Weather is very unpredictable during this time! Be prepared for both. We ended up wearing jeans everyday and I had on a 3/4 sleeve shirt and also carried a jacket because it got cooler as the evening rolled around. It was about 62 degrees during the day and 55 at night. Although, on our last day it was 70, so you never know what your going to get. :thumbsup2

Capri's were mine and DD's best friend! DH and DS wore shorts or light weight athletic pull on pants, all agreed jeans were too heavy.

We were there 12/29/05 to 1/5/06 - weather was low 70's to 80's during the day. Sweatshirts in the evenings on 4 of the 7 eves. We swam every night. A couple of the early mornings 7ish were cool and foggy but warmed up considerably by 10 or so. One morning of rain, didn't last long and did not impact us.

We come from a cool/dry climate. The humidity bugged us more than the cooler temps did. You could almost tell where people were from geographically depending on how they were dressed!

We were there 12/17-12/26/05. The first part of the week we had to wear long sleeved shirts, jeans, and jackets. It warmed up enough for shorts and short sleeves by Christmas eve. Of course, my girls went swimming several times that week and that didn't seem to bother them. They just thought it was neat to go swimming in December.
