What to wear when dining at the California Grill..?

So the DH was banging on about this amazing restaurant that he wanted to try, but didnt know if we could get reservations or if it would be too expensive for us. I dont care about the expense, it will be lovely. We have DDP anyway, se we certainly dont have to worry about that. So its all booked for Nov 6th at 7.40pm, just in time to watch the fireworks; however the thing im concerned about is what to wear? What is appropriate for this restaurant for myself and my DH? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. The DH is 27 and im 24. Thanks guys & girls!!

We were told by the ADR lady that guys should wear a shirt with a collar and they would prefer no shorts (guys or girls). No flip flops either. So business casual-esque.

im wondering the same thing. it'll be our first time going to cali grill in august. We'd be coming right from MK (in park wear!), im wondering if i should bring a change of clothing and change in MK bathroom before going to cali grill?

I did ask this before and ppl have told me that they've seen ppl in regular park wear: jeans are fine, tank tops, khaki shorts for guys, jean shorts even. As long as you dont look like your ready to jump in the pool. And definitely no yoga type pants!

lets hope someone chimes in and helps us with this question!

We dress up normally, I will wear a sundress or summer dress or a nice skirt and blouse, heeled sandals.

DH wears kacky pants, short sleave golf shirt and sperry

Its fun to dress nice for a nice meail out and the ambiance makes it even better!

For men~ Definitely a collared shirt and no shorts... you may see some people try and get away with it, but really it's just not appropriate. Nicer jeans are OK, as long as the shirt is decent. (We've even seen some men in chinos and Hawaiian shirts that looked lovely.)

For Ladies~ I think we have it easy! A pretty sundress, nice capris with a dressy shirt... anything you'd wear to a date night at a fancy restaurant at home.

I was thinking about this as well. There is no way my DH is going to pack and wear a pair of khaki pants or slacks. He will wear nice shorts with a collared shirt as will my 3 boys. Seriously, you are on vacation, in Florida, and are touring amusement parks all day. I will wear a nice blouse/top with capris. That is about as fancy as we are going to get on our break from the real world.

There are those who will reply that anything that is not specifically excluded by the dress code is acceptable, and they would be correct. But what is acceptable is not necessarily the same as what is appropriate. I myself like to dress to match the ambiance of the restaurant I'm eating at, and I think the above suggestions work for Disney signatures.

I was planning on dressing it up anyway as we'll be going for drinks afterwards and its nice to throw on something glam for a date night. Think im going to have to sort out the DH's wardrobe though....

For goodness sake--don't overdress unless you WANT to. You don't HAVE to.

Shorts are fine--we wear them all the time at CG. Anything beyond what is actually prohibited (swimwear, torn clothes, hats on men, tanktops on men, t-shirts with "offensive" wording) is perfectly acceptable.

The part about the shorts is not correct.

• Dress Code Guidelines:
  Men: Khakis, slacks, jeans, dress shorts, collared shirts. Sport coats are optional.
  Ladies: Capris, skirts, dresses, jeans, dress shorts.
  Not permitted in dining room: Tank tops, swimwear, hats for gentleman, cut offs, or torn clothing. While T-shirts are now allowed, the policy remains that T-shirts with offensive language or graphics are not acceptable.

"Dress shorts" is merely a suggestion. We see cargo-style shorts all the time. And footwear is not even mentioned..

We dined at CG twice this trip. Both times my DH wore khaki shorts and a collared shirt and I wore capris and a dressy shirt.

Lots of people wear shorts, flip flop and running shoes at signature restaurants. I Like to dress up for the evening so don't mind my dresses but you will see lots of people wearing shorts and no one will blink an eye at it. we did signature restaurants last month all week long and I saw very few people all dressed up compare to the short and polo shirt crowd.

We do a lot of signature dining and I always watch because these debates always happen. Frankly, I don't care what other people wear (as long as it isn't gross), and we dress up a little. But I figure that most people are most comfortable when they don't feel like they are standing out....particularly most people who ask this question.

Park clothes happen, but are usually probably less than 10% of the people at any signature restaurant. Dressy clothes happen, but are again not the majority - more than park clothes though.

A little over half are wearing tennis shoes - who brings dress shoes on vacation? Really casual flip flops are about as rare as casual park wear, the dressy flip flops are worn a little more often.

Ball caps are - by the rules of etiquette, off when you are inside, and that holds true at signature dining MOST of the time. There are people who probably sleep and shower in their caps, though.
