What to wear to GF tea?

I'm thinking about possibly trying the afternoon tea at the GF with my Mom this year. I am only packing "theme park" attire. Will this be ok? I do not want to feel out of place by being under dressed. I will not pack extra clothes just for one afternoon, though. Would Khaki shorts and a top be ok? Thanks for any help.

You will love the Tea! Great break from the parks. When we did it in May, I wore a skort and top, my DH wore shorts and a polo. Yes, there were other tables that were better dressed than us, maybe they weren't coming straight from MK., but we did not feel under-dressed or out of place. One table was cute - it was several women and young girls - all in nice dresses - very cute.
Our server was Dennis and he was wonderful. If you have any other questions, I'd be happy to answer.

we went to the tea almost straight from the airplane!! actually, we had been to MK and the rain, but not having our luggage yet, we only had travel clothes to wear. theme park chic and it was fine. enjoy the tea; it is great!!:p BTW, tea for 2 is no longer on the menu, but there is a selection that is like half and the price is the same as if you were splitting the tea for 2.

We've done it twice. The first time DH wore chino's and a golf shirt and I had on either linen pants and a blouse or a sundress (can't recall) and we were dressed perfectly. The second time I was in nice shorts and a blouse, and DH was in nice shorts and a gold shirt, and we felt under dressed.

They won't turn you away in shorts, but IMHO they are a tad casual for the event. I won't wear them there again.

Thanks for your replies!

ducklite, that is what I wanted to know. I don't want to feel uncomfortable because I'm under dressed. My suitcase can't hold anything else, so we'll probably just skip it this year.

I wore dressy shorts and a top ... but I noticed others there who had spent the day in the park. I also noticed another table of women who were dressed up. The staff is really nice! You'll have fun :)

I wore twill elastic waist pants and a t-shirt. My sister wore shorts and a t-shirt. People were dressed from shorts to dresses. I did not feel underdressed at all. We relaxed and enjoyed our time.

Shorts & a t shirt are just fine. No need to get dressed any fancier if you don't want to especially if your coming from any of the parks.

There is no dress code (other standard, no shirts, no shoes, no service type). Where whatever you plan to wear that day.

Hey don't cancel on going. Like Disneychrista said, there's no dress code. I never bring anything fancy when we go to disney. THere are no dress codes at disney, except V & A, & I think Shula's(resort wear). If you want to go, just wear what you would normally wear at disney, a pair of shorts & a shirt. WHy don't you pass by it a day or 2 before you plan on attending & just look to see what the people are wearing that day. I'm positive most of them will be in shorts. Yes, its in the GF, which is a nice resort, but believe me your not going to a fancy party, so go where ever you want & have fun.

Wear whatever you want. We did the tea in May and I couldn't tell you what another soul in the place was wearing. Nobody, and I repeat nobody, will bother to look at what you are wearing and give it a second thought. We went straight from the MK, wearing shorts and a cotton top (me a polo and DW a collarless maternity shirt). Go, be comfortable, and enjoy!!!

We had a great time in May and even (gasp!) brought our 2 and 4 year olds. When our 2 yo DS woke from a short nap the waiter took him off our hands for a few minutes, walked him around the dining room and back to the kitchen to say hi to the staff (all the while never out of the sight of watchful mom and dad of course ;) ). He loved is, the other guests thought he was the cutest thing and loved it..............people are just so into relaxing and having fun they don't really care what anyone else is doing.

Ok, so maybe you wouldn't want to go in a thong, with a crying child in tow - but other than that, don't worry.

Funny story. When we were at the tea the only 'uptight' people we saw was this big group of folks from England (vacation week in England you know). After snickering at the menu like a bunch of snooty, 'I'm too good for this pathetic American excuse for tea', English windbags they decided to slum it - only to be told there were no tables available. Ha!!! Served them right. Well, all of a sudden the tea was so good that they just had to be squeezed in ;).

Just wanted to say that not all English people are snooty. :)

It's sort of like the one or two ugly American travelers going to Europe and setting a bad example for our country....it happens both ways. ;)

Didn't mean to imply they all were ;). We actually met some very nice brits on our trip. You find all kinds of people from all countries. :).

when we went almost everyone else was in shorts/tshirts. i'd say you'd be fine in that. there were one or two groups that were more dressy (skirts/sundresses) but they were the exception, not the rule. :)

When we went to the GF for tea I had on shorts and T-shirt and DH had on shorts and a polo shirt. We saw people in there in tank tops. No one was dressed up.
