What to wear on 'dress up' night on Disney Wonder

Was just wondering if it is really necessary to wear a jacket and tie for the dress up evening when dining on the 3 night Wonder cruise. I don't mind wearing a jacket if it is needed but have read somewhere that it's ok as long as you wear smart polo top or just shirt and tie.
Has anyone any first hand experience of what people wear on that particular evening? I know that on the longer cruises there is a formal night where you have to wear jacket etc but thought the shorter cruise dress up evening was a little less formal.

Last year my DH just wore a nice short sleeved shirt with no tie or jacket. It's more smart casual dress than dress-up although I did see a couple of men in full suit they must have been so hot, we went in August :)

the 3 day cruise doesn't really have a formal night...that's on the 7 day cruise..

some people do dress up on the last night of the 3 day cruise, but it's not at all mandatory......on our 2 wonder cruises, about 1/3 dressed up on the last night and the other 2/3 wore nice casual ..

Thanks for your help. Didn't fancy wearing one but would if I had too.

My hubby has never worn a jacket to 'dress up night' or to Palo. He wears smart trousers and a shirt (no tie either). Thankfully the Wonder is less formal than the Magic (which suits us fine :) )

Enjoy your cruise

Thanks Mandy :thumbsup2

we did christmas a few years back on disney wonder on the 4 dayer, and lots of men were in suits, (maybe as it was christmas) i wore a suit myself.

Same for me, never worn a Jacket on either Wonder or Magic. Shirt and tie is most dressed up I get. Disney are very informal about dress on their cruises. Its entirely upto you what you want to wear, just sensible clothes you won't be out of place.
I believe Wonder still only does semi-formal night and no formal night. This was us on on formal night on Magic, will wear something similar this August. Pic of Castaway Cay also, can't wait to get back there, maybe go fishing again:cloud9:

That's a lovely photo of you and your DW, Wayne. :thumbsup2

My DH isn't going to wear a jacket, nibbo. It will take up too much space in the suitcase! :rotfl2: He's planning on wearing a shirt and Disney tie.

Thank you Elaine.

We considered cancelling the cruise in August with poor exchange rate but just couldn't do it, looking forward to it way too much.
6 years ago we both said we would not enjoy cruising but will try it once, now done 4 DCL & 2 RCCL. Just like the once in a lifetime trip to Florida we did 16 years ago:rotfl2:

I think we all start off with one of those! :rotfl:

We are so looking forward to our cruise. DH and I did a Med weekend cruise as part of a belated honeymoon 19 years ago and always said we'd love to cruise again. We would have liked to do a 4 night but being over Christmas it was double  the price of the 3 night. Luckily we paid quite a lot off when the rate was 1.75 but now wish we'd paid it all. :sad2:

Xmas cruising prices are crazy same as some of DCL European cruises.
I am complaining at £600pp 7 nights Western Secret porthole cabin end of August but I know its cheap compared to many of the cruises. We also have $300 Onboard credit in the deal so that helps a little.

great pictures Wayne!!

DH and DS never wore a jacket or tie on the wonder. Just nice polo shirts and khakis.
In fact, DH only wore his birkenstock sandals the entire cruise as well. He never takes closed shoes on our trips to Florida. Too hot.

Thanks again for all your replies. Definitely no jacket then (thank goodness) and I'll probably take both a polo shirt and a shirt and tie, or maybe an excuse to buy a disney tie like Waynes. :thumbsup2

Haha.... we had one of those in 2003 and now going on our 4th trip in December. Can't really see us going anywhere else apart from Florida for our holidays in the foreseeable future.

We were thinking like that too, or going with RCCL instead as they work out at about half the price with the current exchange rate but in the end we thought stuff it, you only live once, you've got to at least do your first cruise with DCL.
If we enjoy it and decide to do another cruise then we might look at alternative options, but for this trip it's got to be on the Wonder.:goodvibes

:rotfl: I have a collection of them. Heres one Matt borrowed and again wearing it with a mickey head of Ketchup.

Good choice for a 1st cruise, RCCL are OK but for the 3/4 nights from Port Canaveral Disney are better. RCCL have some great ships but they use older ones for the short cruises, both our RCCL were on Sovereign of the Seas(now moved on), although not as good as Wonder and a little tired we still enjoyed a lot.

Was the ketchup on the Wonder Wayne? ..... and proper chips too!

Any particular tie outlet you recommend? I quite fancy a polo shirt with a discreet Mickey Mouse embroidered on it if you can still get them, would this be acceptable attire for the evening?

I bought the ties from Tierack a few years ago, no idea if they still do them(or even if they are still trading, I rarely shop)

Not sure which ship we were on then, looks as though it could have been Wonder, our 1st cruise.

Polo shirts are perfect, I have them with Mickey, Donald and Grumpy worn them all onboard for meals.

Can't wait to get onboard again, where else do you see Mickey on the beach?
