What to wear in December?

Assuming the average temps of high 73/low 52, what should we wear to parks in morning, afternoon, and night? Do we wear shorts and shirt all day and take a sweatshirt for evening, or do we need to take pants/sweatshirt OR pants/light jacket OR pants/heavy jacket? I've never been there in Dec., so I need a little help with what to take. I don't want to be carrying bags full of jackets, etc. if not necessary.

Also, for MVMCP (never been there)? We're going to Chef Mickey's for late breakfast, and hang aroud Contemporary/Wilderness Lodge until party at 4 p.m.. What should we wear to the party?

You are going at a great time. We went last year in December from the 4th to the 10th. The weather is unpredictable. Pack for both shorts and pants. The first couple of days it was cold, but later on it was great. Even hit Typhoon Lagoon. If you don't mind wearing the same jacket/sweat shirt, you won't need too many.

On MVMCP night you will have a blast. I don't know what kind of tickets you have, but you might want to go to another park before heading to MVMCP or just relax like you are planning on doing. Stay until midnight. The lines are great. The decorations are great. Oh if you can, try and go to 2 parties. You won't regret it. The first night for the shows, parades, and fireworks and the next one for the rides. There is nothing like being at Dis with Xmas decorations.

We've always worn shorts and t-shirts in the daytime. At night we change to pants. The t-shirts are sufficient as it doesn't get that cold. Always take warm clothes as well during this time of season cuz you never know when a front will blow in and cool off the area more than normal. :sunny:

I would pack for a bit of everything. You're from Ohio, so wear a heavier coat on the plane so you don't need to deal with shoving it in a suitcase. Then pack sweatshirts/pants and shorts/tshirts. Summer clothing is small, so squishing some in your suitcase shouldn't be so bad. But I wouldn't want to be there that time of year without at least one sweatshirt and one pair of long pants. Have fun!

Am I the only weather-wimp? I JUST finished packing (we'll be there tomorrow! pinch me!) but I shoved in a couple of more shorts and t-shirts in after reading these posts.... Low to mid 70s as a mid-day high sounds like jeans weather to me, long-sleeves, even, and I'm a New Englander.... Is it just that people like to try to get away with wearing shorts because it's not actually freezing out? :confused3

Keith,

What dates are you going? We're leaving from PHL on 12/10 and I just checked Accuweather 15 day forecast for Orlando and it's changed since
yesterday. Yesterday the daytime highs were ranging from 69/74 and nighttime lows around 52/54. However, today the forecast for 12/10 thru
12/16 is 66/69 daytime high and mid to high 40's for nighttime. So, I think
we'll be taking more long sleeve t-shirts and sweatshirts than I had planned.
I always check Accuweather right up until the night before we leave. We were there this past January from 1st thru 9th and temps were in the low
80's during day and 60's at night!! So, you just never know in December and
January. Have a good time!!! I know I can't wait!!

Nope. I'm also a weather wimp ;) . I won't even bother packing shorts this time. During our last December trip (2003), the shorts never even made it out of the suitcase. We're packing long sleeve t-shirts/sweatshirts and jeans.

I guess I'm a weather wimp too. We are leaving on 12/11 and I am not packing any shorts. I am packing pants, t-shirst, long sleeve shirts, sweaters, sweatshirst, jackets, gloves and hats for the kids. I really hope we won't need the jackets, gloves and hats, but would like to be prepared. I figure if the highs are around 70 degrees, then we can wear pants and a t-shirt and add layers later in the day as needed. :flower:

We were there last year dec12-dec19 and it was cold. So I would tell you to also bring gloves and warm clothes. Because it is very hard to find these items in disney. And when you do they cost alot.

Urggggggg!!!!!

(flipping over suitcase and tearing all the t-shirts out......)

That's a 10 degree drop!

Every day that I've checked the weather for our trip, it's changed significantly. It's so far out, weather-wise, that I'm hoping the temps take a swing upward again! :sunny:

great post thanks, I was uncertain and I am packing this evening for an early flight out tomorrow

We'll be there 12/11 and 12/12. I am confused because even if it is warm during the day, it will probably be cool at night. So, do we have to lug lightweight coats around all day? We are staying at the Contemporary so on our Epcot day with Candleight Processional Dinner Package that night we won't be going back to the hotel all day. What to do? :confused3

We were there last year from December 23-30. The temp ranged from 47 - the 70's. One day it poured on the day we went to the CP. Then 2 days later it was warm enough to swim. Just bring layers and remember the rain ponchos, but have fun. We had a blast running around Epcot even in the rain.

we leave in 13 days and I am from Michigan. Today we had a high of 31. I am hoping for weather in the mid 60's to mid 70's during the day. I am not packing any shorts. I am only bringing capri's and long pants. I always layer my tops with the good ole t-shirt/sweatshirt combo's. Even 70's is cool to me so I guess I am a weather wimp too :sunny:

I'm not bringing shorts either, but I am bringing my bathing suit, the water in the pools is wonderful!

I'm sure to bring my gloves and earmuffs. A blanket of some sort to sit on is also good to have if you're going to the CP, the benches are cold.

Take your warm clothing with you and rent a locker for the day. When evening comes, it it turns cold, get out your warmer wear and change in the restroom. Works for us.

Thanks for the posted question!!! I have had to pack too much because of the weather options that we could have. But if its not snowing, our family will be swimming at least once!!! It can stop snowing anytime now in western michigan, I dont think I was born to live in a place that has something known as lake effect :confused3 . Have a great trip everyone!!!

I've seriously considered doing this. Are there usually enough lockers available, and how big are they? Are there different sizes, and how much to rent them?

Thanks everyone for your responses.
