Not long until we go now.

I'm fully aware of what to tip for when we have meals, but, in order not to accidently cause insult to people, could anybody tell me what the latest going rate is for tipping all the other services?

Things such as:

1) Mousekeepers.
2) The people who take your suitcases to the rooms (bellboys?)
3) Concierge (if they book something for me or give me directions etc.?)
4) Taxi drivers
5) Anybody else.......

There will be Me, DW and DD (age 13) on this holiday.

Many thanks.

I would advise the following -

1) Mousekeepers - $1 per person per day.
2) The people who take your suitcases to the rooms (bellboys?) - $1 for each large item and maybe a bit more if helpful.

Also if valet parking a $1 or $2 for the person who takes the car and also a $1 or $2 for the person who collects the car, we have given more if bad weather etc.

HTH

Claire ;)

We tip -
1. $5 every other day - seems a better amount for the Mousekeepers to recieve -though I don`t think you have to tip.
2. $1 a bag - but a minimum of $5.
3. No idea?
4.15 -20%. Though we once didn`t have enough to pay for the taxi fare - he was very, very nice about it and wouldn`t even let me go and get more money let alone a tip!
5. I often ask people, very discreetly, should I be tipping them - somtimes I get a " No ma`am" and other times a "tip is appreciated" who knows :confused3
This is what we`re comfortable with - but each to his own!

The only problem with tipping the mousekeepers every other day is that even Disney mousekeepers get a day off (why? I'd work there for free! ;) ) So depending on how the days off go, you could have mousekeeper A getting 1 tip for 4 days and mousekeeper B getting a tip when they only mousekeeped (?) once for you. Then Mousekeeper A get peeved and chops the heads off all your towel animals and gives you used soap (you know, the kind with hair stuck to it)

D`you know I always wondered why our towel animals were headless!

We tend to tip as follows:

1) Mousekeepers.

$1 per adult per day (left in an envelope markd 'For Mousekeeping')

2) The people who take your suitcases to the rooms (bellboys?)

$1 per bag

3) Concierge (if they book something for me or give me directions etc.?)

Never used so don't know what the standard tips is :)

4) Taxi drivers

10% of fare

5) Anybody else.....

Meals - Table Service 15-20% depending on service. (always check to see if sevice is included though).
Buffet Service 10-15% depending service.

Another one that I'm never sure about - when collecting your hire car, do you tip the man who runs to get the car for you? If so how much?

We don't and I always feel uncomfortable not tipping! Guess I should then!

We usually tip a couple of $'s or more for the car hire guy esp if helpful re putting bags in the car :)

1) Technically WDW housekeeping isn't a "tipped" position. If you tip $1/ guest per day is normal. If you're going to tip, tip daily since you may get a different housekeeper.
2) $1-$2 /bag but if you use DME the delivery to your room is "pre-tipped" since you won't even be in the room when your luggage is delivered.
3) WDW concierge staff aren't supposed to accept tips, search on the resort board, I think some regular guest bring things like chocolate as a gift for the staff to share.
4) 15-20% of the fare.

Anyone who helps you with your luggage generally gets tipped, that includes a car hire shuttle driver.
