How much do people tend to tip at Disney. We are staying at a value resort if that matters. Thanks!

Lee :hippie:

We normally tip $1 per person per day. I make the mousekeeping envelopes out at home and fill them before my trip so they're all set.

Most tip daily because the mousekeeper can change daily.

We stay at Values and I tend to leave $3-5 per day. I do leave it each day because mousekeepers change and I'd hate to tip one person for an 8-day trip when 3 people actually did the work......

I just figured out the answer to my own dificult possible situation. For my next trip at the ASMO, I plan on leaving a very cute envelope decorated by me or dd with $5 every morning. Also, $1 if we call for something extra, like a blanket etc...

I was worried (Im one of those freaks who *has to* worry @ something...), that we may find our room dirty, either on our first night, or any of the other 8 nights of our trip. Would I still tip the next morn, for a job that wasnt done etc...

Heres what I decided. I hate to complain, but in this case, its the ONLY way. I would complain to the employee at guest relations, and even request to speak to a supervisor. make sure that they knew who didnt do their job. Then, I could rest assured that who ever it was, would hopefully hear a thing or 2 from their boss, who wouldnt be pleased about a very unsatisfied guest.

If I didnt tip the following morn, a completely different housekeeper would likely be cheated out of their well earned tip, and Id feel rotten all day :sad2:

Here's what I posted on another thread ( http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1012085 ) on the resorts board...
Birnbaum's 2006 "The official guide" says on page 54...
"tips are no less valued at Disney resorts than at any other hotel-$1.00 per bag is appropriate for lugging luggage; $1 to $3 per night for housekeeping services (include a note to avoid confusions).

If you call for an extra blanket you shouldn't leave an extra $1 in the housekeeping envelope--you should tip the guy who brought you the blanket. Or did I misunderstand something? At any rate, I usually don't leave a tip in the room because its too hard to determine who gets it--different people clean on different days, often more than one lady cleans a room, how to split it up? I try to do this--usually there's a card in the room "your room was cleaned today by 'Mary'". I then put an appropriate tip in an envelope for 'Mary' and leave it at the front desk. Just hope she gets it. Or if I see the cleaning lady I try to give the tip directly to her.

I realize they work hard for little money, however, when I'm paying $300+ for a room I really don't think I should have to pay "extra" for basic cleaning, supplies, etc. Isn't that what I'm paying for in the first place? If I make extra requests, such as more towels, clean up kids throw-up, of course, then I leave a tip.

nothing

Made envelopes with 2 dollars in for every day of stay before we left. Family staying in two adjoining rooms didn't. We got extra Mickey soaps and shampoos. One day they made or hand towels into the coolest character shapes. And one mousecleaner took my 3 yr old's bob the builder toys and had them all set up doing things all over the room when we returned at night. He was so thrilled you would have thought Santa came. Plus we all agreed that of all 3 duplicate rooms ours was always the cleanest:) for 2 dollars a day it was well worth it.

just subscribing so I can find this thread later

I will let the kids make envelopes up a couple weeks before we leave. I plan on leaving 5.00 a day in a envelope. There is 5 of us two adults and three children. I have never stayed before on the resorts so hopefully they will make the stay extra special. :hippie:
