Depending on how many classes you'll miss and your schools (or professors) policy on missed classes, you may not have to tell them anything. If you can get assignments from someone else, you could just let the professor know you'll be missing but that you'll be getting your assignments and will hand them in as soon as possible. Would it be 2 or more class meetings (per class) most schools allow you to miss at least 2 before they give you any problems :confused3 .

I just told them that i will be out for 2 classes because i will be on afamily vacation..never had an issue

I told mine the truth the last time I went on vacation (a week in lacrosse) she just a post card LOL.

i went to disney world the first week in nov. so i missed a weeks worth of classes. when i told my professors they just asked if they could fit in my luggage. they told me not to worry about getting stuff in ahead of time, but it would be better if i could, but still not a big deal. actually one of my professors pushed back a test so i wouldn't have to miss that. depending on your professors, they should be just fine. just explain that you are going on a family vacation and everything SHOULD be fine. have fun!!
