I am taking my 2 kids to disney. They will be 2 and 4. I have never taken a big trip with kids. What do you carry on when you have little kids? I am pretty sure we are going in Sept.

Take busy toys to keep them busy on the plane . I keep a small toy plane in my 5yr olds carry on he loves to play with it on the plane.
But most of all take your swim suits-in case your room isnt ready!
Have a great trip! :thumbsup2

Change of clothes for them & you.
Snacks
Small sticky note pad & crayons
A few new toys & a few old toys

change of clothes
stickers
washable crayons and NEW coloring books
power touch books and NEW cartridges
snacks
handi-wipes
tissues
NEW Disney books

the new stuff tends to hold their attention longer than the old stuff so I try to mix it up without going over board.

I like the portable DVD players... with headphones of course.... I like to buy my two little ones a new movie that they get to watch for the first time while on the plane... usually a disney movie or pixar.... my kids always think its a treat to be able to get soda on the plane... a couple snacks and they are good to go....

I have a 2 & 4 year old also. We leave for Disney in 3 weeks. This is what I have on my list: Disney colorbooks & crayons, Disney stickers, Disney "magic" books & pens, snacks, cups w/lids, wipes, tissues, extra clothes in ziploc baggies, Leapster & games for 4 yr old, baby doll & favorite "blankie" for 2 yr old and we just got a portable dvd player to bring w/ some movies. Hopefully that will do the trick. I'm really nervous about my 2 yr old. The last time she flew (19 months old) was terrible! I'm debating bringing her carseat so she can see out the window and hopefully stay put.

I am bringing my carseat for my 2 yr old. I am still afraid she won't behave on the plane. She loves to be free to run around but I am not going to allow her out of her seat on the plane.

All of the above as well as fruit chews and Tylenol in case of any ear issues at take off and landing.

Do they still have snacks on the plane? I will bring some stuff but I am just wondering? I think we are flying SW.

I pack sandwich size ziplock for each child with a few crayons, stickers, paper and little princess snack gummies!

THis way they have their own little thing to hold crayons and what not from falling on the floor when they are buckled and you cannot reach them during take off.:rotfl:

I would reccomend ALSO packing the things your child Just cannot survive without. You know "the world has just ended because X was in my now missing checked baggage? I would make sure not to pack anything too important in checked baggage. Havent lost mine yet but I worry about it!

Also for the 4 year old:
A maget board!

You can make a small disney themed one for under 10 bucks. you just pick up a chunk of magnet sheet (usally 12 inches by 12 inches is good) at the Home depo. You can get magnetic sticky back at walmart (1.50 a sheet) and disney stickers. You put the stickers on the walmart sticky back magnet paper and BOOM a new disney themed toy! You can also use cutouts from magizines and so such and cover it with a little puzzle sealer. Buildings can be extra fun.
ALso the manetic sheet from home depo IS panitable so you can do the sky and ground backround on them. Darn, I might havta make one of these now for my preschoolers. Hope this helps. If you want any other crafty ideas just ask. I am the craft queen~!

hey if you do make this send me a pic if you can. I would love to post it on the new site im gonna make.

My little brother is 4 and he was occupied the whole time with his magic coloring book. They sell them for 5 dollars and basically you get a marker, sometimes some stickers and the book. What they are is, blank pages except there will be one or two characters, then when you color the blank space other characters and a certian scene pops up. Then you stick the stickers in certian places corresponding with their shape. I know that sounds difficult but its really quite easy. They sell these themes...
Nemo, Princesses, Pooh, Dora, and sometimes Cars/Toy Story

We flew to New York last year (2 hr flight from ATL) with 3 small children (ages 4,6,8). We took a portable DVD player with infared headphones for each child and it worked out great. The kids watched cartoons the whole way. After the flight people kept telling how impressed they were with our well behaved children. It was perfect. We bought the set at Circuit City for about $800 and it was worth every penny. We are going to use it again this year during our 8hr drive to WDW.:woohoo: :cool1:

We had a 2 hour plane ride. DS(12 at the time) packed his portable DVD player in his backpack and was set with the POTC movie. DD, who was 4, was a little tougher. We packed her Leapster, Color Wonder books, her special blankie, and movies to play on my laptop if needed. She actually was more interested in looking out the window as this was her first time in a plane. We also packed fruit snacks for her to eat on the plane when taking off.

Crayola Color Wonder books now come in different Disney characters. What a great way to keep them busy on the plane! If you have or plan to buy a DVD player, you can always pack the Disney vacation planning DVD for them to watch and get a good feel of what it will be like when they get there.

Be sure to have a change of clothes, swimsuits, and toiletries you will need.

I can't afford an extra $800 to entertain them on the plane

I know $800 is alot. For much less go to inmotionpictures.com and you can rent a portable dvd player from the airport and drop it off at you destination airport. That's only about $15.

i brought our portable dvd and my kids (2 and 4) wouldn't watch it for long :sad2: (despite being able to sit transfixed at home for 2.5hrs watching whatever). i bring loads of snacks, new coloring books, those portable magnadoodles etc.

this year i made them haul their own stuff too :rotfl: (we carried the dvd of course). oh i also made sure to bring dd's 'blankie'

always always bring a change of clothes, even for the older one. last year i didn't and my eldest caught a virus and puked in the waiting area at the airport and the entire flight home. i had to go buy him a shorts/tee outfit from the gift shop (we were flying home to providence in january :cold: )
