I am at a loss on what to get my boyfriend's mom for her birthday. Her birthday is in a couple of days, so ordering anything online is out. I want something not too expensive, but thoughtful. They are not drinkers and she has spent a lot of time in the hospital recently with his sister who has leukemia. Any suggestions??? Thanks!

Gift Certificate for a pedicure/manicure/facial....
Some Bath & Body Works stuff....
Gift Certificate for dinner....

I'm sure that some 'pampering' right now would be appreciated...

I would go the gift certificate route-maybe to a favorite store/salon, etc. (Very thoughtful of you, by the way.)

How old is she? Do you know any of her likes or dislikes? I like to read, so a gift cert. from a book store would be nice, I'm allergic to most perfumes, so a gift of lotions might not work well. Ask your boyfriend if there is something she really likes, like a certain type of chocolate or something. Oh, another idea would be a gift cert. for a massage, it might help a little since she's been at the hospital alot. Or even something kinda goofy, she might need a good laugh.

I know how you feel, DFi's mom is always hardest to buy for...She does like monkeys so sometimes I go that route, sometimes I do a framed picture of their whole family (like they were all together at Thanksgiving, extended family and all, so I took one of the digital pics and framed it), sometimes I do candles in scents she's mentioned....Ugh. So hard.

Maybe a gift basket with a relaxation theme (bathrobe, slippers, magazines, teas, etc).

I also like the spa gc idea. It sounds like she could use some pampering.

Is there a DVD player at the hospital? Maybe a silly girl's movie that she could share with her daughter. (Like How to Loose a Guy In 10 Days) And a certificate to order pizza. Days at a hospital can get very long and something to help them enjoy the time would be great. It is very thoughtful of you.

It could be something as simple as offering to run some errands for her or cook a couple meals so she can spend time with her daughter without dwelling on everything thing that is beings neglected.

The other option is pampering her.

My boyfriend's dad is getting her a $200 GC to a spa and salon, so that idea is out. The sad thing is, I really don't have time to cook or run errands for her. I have class 5 days a week, work 6 days a week and have sorority/other school activities as well. She is turning 47 or 48. I guess I will just a get a restaurant GC, but I really don't like to give GC's. I was also thinking maybe a Yankee Candle or some scrapbooking supplies (which she likes). ?????

Mandy,
If my DS's GF gave me something (anything) for my birthday, I would be thrilled! Wouldnt' matter what it was. I have to say, receiving flowers unexpectedly is very nice :flower: What ever you give her she will love.

You are very sweet.

Cathy

If she likes to scrapbook, get her a GC to a store that sells scrapbooking supplies.

I was going to suggest a Yankee Candle, but seeing that you said she enjoys scrapbooking, why not a gift certificate to AC Moore or where she buys her supplies from. :)

Find out which Yankee Candle she has and get a different one. I always have 3 or 4 in my house.

Check out the Floral Dept. in your local Grocery for a selection of potted plants or a bouquet of flowers. :flower:
