i think i know my answer but i would still like to ask.
my best friend just got back in from OEF she would like to accompany me and DBF to disney for a few days. I am on a package with dining plan. She would like to stay with me just for 2 days (out of 6) but my understanding of the rules is she would have to pay for the whole stay under the exact same package. So my answer to her has been she can ride down with us but she can not stay with us she has to find someplace she can afford on her own. With that said has anyone every had anything like this happen? what did you do? someone said at check-in just ask to see if we can add her on (for the two days) the worst they can say is no. anywho i am not looking to break the rules so any suggestion to have her just stay with us without letting disney know is moot (not happening). just wanted to know what you guys would do?

I would call the reservation line and explain to them that she will only be staying for the 2 days. Maybe she can just pay out of pocket for her meals. That's what I would do. That way you guys know exactly where she stands if she goes with you.

Don't do anything until you check in. They can add her then and you should not need to have her on the same package. I did this when my son was going to join us for a few days but I was not sure of the days. I called ahead and was told this was the best way to handle it. We had the Magic you way plan plus dining and we were told to pay OOP for his meals, he already had tickets for the parks.

awesome I hope the check-in thing works :) she says she does not mind paying oop for her meals at all.

We stayed at the GF in December 2004 and my brother in law came for two days. When we checked in we told them he was coming and they charged us $25.00 per night for the extra person and he paid for his meals and we used the DDP for us. We had park tickets from the previous year so he was able to use those.

If she is just back from OEF, then she is eligible for the OEF discount at Shades of Green.....why not have her make a reservation and stay there?

In fact, all of you could stay there if you wanted to...just a thought.

They offer a 20% room discount paired with a 20% dining plan discount (only for OEF). We are paying about $110 per night for room AND two meals a day on the plan...you can't beat that!
