What to do with kids during daytime Food and Wine Fest stuff?

First, kudos to the Dis for having info about the Food and Wine Fest before Deb and the official site!

We will have Sat and Sunday day to visit post cruise in October. But... what to do with the kids? Will any of the clubs have special day-care for any of the day-time functions? We would love to do one of the special F&W functions. Or should we hire a sitter to entertain the kids in the Parks? I despair of being lucky enough to actually get an evening reservation on Saturday. Anyone done a day thing and come up with creative things to let the kids have fun, too?

As for daytime F&W activities, they include the wine/beer tastings and cooking demos. Children can sit with you during the cooking demos. Demos last about 30-45 minutes. Last Fall one mother was there with her DD and brought books and craft items to keep her busy. At the wine/beer tastings all participants must be of drinking age.

Food sampling booths themselves are open and located around World Showcase and many families attend.

The bigger events are in the evening. For those I'd highly suggest a babysitter.

On our dates, there are several day-time functions, Lunch and Learn at the Odyssey, Wine School, and Tastings at Bistro de Paris. Was wondering what kind of day-time care is available and if anyone had done this. The only nightime function is Party for the Senses, and my experience has been that they are often booked by the time non-Florida folks can book. It seems to me that it would make sense for WDW to have one of the nearby kid's clubs open during the day, but have never heard of this. Has anyone used a sitter to entertain the kids in the Parks? What company did you use?

HI Carla. Lucky you, getting to go to the F&W! We are looking forward to the year we can do that, but DD will be grown by then. Your best option would be an extended family member to take turns with, but barring that, how about trying to find a DIS family with similar age kids that you can get to "know" before the trip, maybe even someone on your cruise? There's bound to be someone with the same dilemma. If you feel comfortable with them, perhaps they could do park time with the kids one day, and you could take the other day. We've already met some really nice folks going on our December cruise that I know would agree to this, and that I would trust. Of course, not an issue for our cruise. Worth a shot!
