What to do with expiring points?

Hi,

I have almost 300 Banked points in a holding account that will expire 1/31/05.

Is there anything I could Do?

You can start by posting on the dvc rent/trade board.Is jan 31 the last day you can use them for reservations.

Can't he deposit them for a future II trade? That would buy him another 2-years to use the trade on these points, correct?

AFAIK, the only thing you can do with those points is try to reserve a stay at one of the DVC resorts. Not much time left until the end of the month and availability could be a problem. If you cannot take a trip before the points expire, you could try renting the stay. You'll probably have to offer a very good price to get someone to bite.

Another option is to donate the stay to charity. Maybe someone can post the details of how to do that - I know there were threads on the subject, but I can't find them.

You might also call MS and see if it is possible to do a late deposit to II (Interval International / World Passport Collection) with those points. I'm not sure if that is within the rules, but it is worth a phone call to find out. If Dean is reading this thread, he might know.

I would try to to rent them. People taking sudden trips would love them. They could go for a week to a 2 bedroom! The going rate is 10 dollars per point which is cheap. If after a week there are no bites I would donate them.
