What to do with expiring points now that there's no RCI option?

I was able to "dump" points after our covid cancellation a couple of years ago before they expired. The transfer to RCI helped me in save points for a later date, which was very helpful. We were actually able to use those points with RCI this summer. After 20 years in DVC, this was our first experience using points outside of the WDW resorts. Now that RCI is no longer an option, what is? I just got an email today about another program closing or changing (hotel exchange through Interval International). Does that work the same way, or is that option also closing now? I'm planning to call MS next week, but hoping to get some advice and info. before I make the call.

DVC switched away from RCI and are now using II.

With II you have the same option to use or deposit your points as you did with RCI. Just remember that when your points are deposited there is no way to take them back as it’s a final transaction.

I never used RCI or II for that matter through DVC, but IIRC you can’t deposit your points with II when there is less than 45 days or so to the expiration but I expect that others can elaborate on that part.

We used RCI a few times. Each time, we found where we wanted to stay that had vacancies then used the specific amount of DVC points to affect that transaction. I very briefly looked at II and it seemed that you have to first transfer some amount of points then search for a place to use them. Anyone know the exact mechanics?

I don't think you need to deposit first, as you can search for your location and see what's available.

Ive tried a few times and every time II have nothing in the location I searched for. I searched for NYC, so far I'm not impressed with II, at least RCI had exchange options in NYC.

Marriott Pulse NYC shows up from time to time, but it goes fast when it does. An ongoing search is probably a good idea here.

You do not need to deposit points ahead of time. We found an exchange we wanted for this January. I was able to book it online without having any points loaded into II. I then had to call MS to transfer the points.

Ii does not seem as good as RCI but it’s the alternative. Good luck!

Have you considered renting the points and using the proceeds to get a reservation pretty much anywhere?

We rented out the points we couldn't use. Depending on your timeframe, that may or may not be an option. have not looked at the new arrangement, but we could never find anything of interest with RCI. I know some others did, but we never could.

I appreciate the replies, but I still haven't found the answer I need. I am aware of the other options people have suggested. Without breaking rent/trade board rules, it's difficult to go into details, so I was hoping someone had the answer to the question about what options I had to dump points before they expire. I never did get a chance to call MS until the day of the hurricane...which would have been greta timing on my part, so I didn't end up calling.

Interval international is the option you have

Interval International's transfer deadline was 45 days before my deadline. I missed that. :(
