We will arrive at 1pm....possibly earlier on Sunday. They have EMH that night, so I'm wondering what we should to the first day we arrive. Hang out at the campground and go see the fireworks that night? I've got tickets for that day and hate to not use them. The kids will have gotten a good nights sleep the night before since we're staying overnight in southern GA/Northern Fla.

If you have tickets that expire....certainly use them and head to a park! If you have non expiring ticket I'd spend the first day taking it easy. Get settled into the campground, go for a boat ride, monorail ride, DTD , touring other resorts or anything else thats not stressful. Even though you have a short drive on your arrival day, dont underestimate the stress that you have been under the last few days loading up, driving, keeping kids happy, and finally setting up camp.

Like drafthorse said, take it easy if you can. We also plan to arrive right around lunch. We like to get set up, then head over to DTD for a late lunch and some shopping and browsing. Then we'll head back and just chill around the Fort and be ready for the next morning at the parks.

Take the kids to MK! Nothing else says "I'm in Disney World" quite like that! Have a great trip.

What FWGuy does (not necessarily right for everybody, but works for FWGuy): Check in early and park in the overflow lot if site not ready
Check Mickey the Wonder Beagle in to the kennel
Take bus to Settlement
Check out new merchandise at trading post, then take boat to WL
Have lunch at WL, allow FWGirl to shop at store there
Take boat to Contemporary, allow FWGirl to shop more
Take boat back to FW, have an adult beverage on TE porch
Take bus back to Outpost, get site assignment and set up camp
Head over to DTD for FWGirl to shop more, FWGuy enjoys a smoothie and calls kids at home to tell them where he is, what he is doing and present weather conditions at WDW.

Mine has been all over the board.

When I was tent camping, setting up my tent city took all afternoon and evening, so that's what I did, then usually had a late dinner at Trails End.

This last trip, and my first with the camper, we got set up, then went to Chef Mickey's for dinner, then open till midnite at Magic Kingdom.

This next trip, (October) if things go as planned, my son will be coming with me, we'll set up, then off to Downtown Disney for dinner, Cirque, then Adventurer's Club, then I'll put him on a plane home on Sunday, and pick up DH at the airport. (Sanford, Allegient Air)

Are you FWGuy and just talking in the 3rd person or is FWGuy someone else?

FWGuy is a man of many conflicting personalities at war amonst themself within the confines of his cranium...its surprisingly roomy enough for an "all out battle" in there!!!!!

Ok glad you asked....

We usually try and get there about checkin time, we set up , drive the golf cart around to check campground out and then we usually go over to Beaches and Cream for some ice cream.
Come back nap it off then hit DTD for some shopping and a lite supper of some sort, no certain place, but a must do is : Goofy and Company a must have for snack run.
Makes for a full fun day ! We just don't have enough energy anymore to set up and go directly to the parks, we use to when we were younger but not now, we have a much more lazy plan..;)
