What to do on Disney property besides the parks?

Three friends and I are taking a post graduation trip to Disney in July and because we aren't old enough to rent a car, we have to depend on Disney transportation to get places. We will be staying at the Contemporary for 8 days. We plan to go to the parks 5 days, not doing anything the day we get there or the day we leave. The problem is, I don't know what to do that one extra day. We already planned going to Downtown Disney and Disney Quest and the hotel pool.

Any suggestions?

Also, are we allowed to go to the pools of other Disney resorts?

Thanks!

Might want to look into Richard Petty driving experience.

Do you like to golf? they have quite a few golf courses, plus miniature golf.

How about one of the many tours that Disney offers.

They also offer parasailing (the kind where you get pulled behind a boat).

They have two water parks, and one of them offers surfboarding lessons.

No you can't swim in any other pool than the one your staying at.

I enjoyed a day simply looking around some of the other resorts, especially the delux ones. Also going horse riding through the woods at fort wilderness. Also we went to some of the parks again on spare days just to go on the rides or attractions we really liked again. Like others have suggested perhaps take a back stage tour. The keys to the kingdom tour is highly recomended.

Going to Downtown Disney is fun. Last time we ate at the Rain Forest Cafe, shopped at the HUGE Disney store, and went to Disney Quest (my kids and husband loved it!). There is a big movie theater there too.

They show a movie at Fort Wilderness evening with a program before the movie feature Chip and Dale.

Walking around the Boardwalk is nice, and there are places to eat around there is you are there at dinner time.

You could attend the Hoop Dee Doo Revue dinner show at Fort Wilderness, or the dinner show at the Poly.

Go over to Animal Kingdom Lodge for a meal at Boma or Jiko and enjoy walking around viewing the animals.

Rent boats (the 'mice' they have look like fun).

Just go exploring and visit the different resorts.

Enjoy your trip!

Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach are great fun. There is also miniature golf at Winter Summerland and Fantasia Gardens.

If you take a tour, some of them require park admission, so make sure you have it on the days you tour.

Try to get a specialty cruise to watch either the Epcot or MK fireworks from a boat. These are a bit expensive, but you can ask others to join you and pay part of the cost. It's about $150/cruise. You don't need park admission for either of these. The boat holds about 10 adults. Lots of times other people get these and offer to share with others. Look for those messages on the Theme Parks Board.

Take a cab over to the Prime Outlets and do some comando shopping.

We love wandering around Downtown Disney Marketplace and PI during the day time!

We love wandering around Downtown Disney too! We also recommend Blizzard Beach on those Florida afternoons!:sunny:

Most definately take a visit to Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach- you won't be disappointed.

Downtown Disney/Pleasure Island are fun places as well.

Minature golf- 2 choices

Golf- on a variety of courses

Sailing, fishing, boating, parasailing, horseback riding, bike riding are fun

The Boardwalk.

The Hoop Dee Doo dinner show is a blast.

But my choice would be the water parks!

Sinse you don't have a car you may be interested in the Lynx public transit. the buses leave the TTC at MK 2x an hour. $1.25. Go shopping at a factory outlet mall(Beltz has disney merchandise for very very good prices.) Go to Old Town, a 10 minute bus ride from TTC. Wallmart is further up 192, and Osceola Mall is on the same line. Or, if you like a bigger mall, the Florida Mall is a transfer away.
If you want to stay on property, take a high tea at the Grand Floridian. Go horseback riding or fishing at Fort Wilderness.(Make sure you check out the lawn mower tree). Relax on a hammock on the beach. Rent a water sprite or go water skiing. Ride up front in the monorail. Don't forget Pleasure Island, or if it's too much, check out the Boardwalk, especially at night. You can be as busy or as quiet as you want. There really is something for everyone.
