Going To WDW in December and I have one free/down day that I still don't have a plan for. Any suggestions? Probably something non Disney. We'll sleep in and start the day slow, and end the day early for the RD next day.

We like to go to the Prime outlets and Premium outlets because they have a WDW outlet store in each and sometimes you can get great deals(real WDW merchandise)

at Prime Outlets its the Disney Character Warehouse

at the Premium outlets its the Disney Character Premiere

Also we enjoy shopping at DTD(I know disney) but can be fun

We also enjoyed the Ripleys Beleive It Or Not museum

Many mini golf courses off property and 2 on property

lounging by the pool

Okay another Disney thing but - if you have a car check out the deluxe resorts esp. GF, BWI, WL and AKL they have great holiday decorations

okay thats all I have

enjoy

I would suggest shopping too.. there are so many different places to shop. Between the two main outlet malls, that right there would take up your day...:goodvibes

i'm in orlando now, in the middle of our vacation. we had our 'down' day yesterday. we did the outlet mall! if you like shopping, the outlets here are like a mecca for shoppers! i've never seen an outlet mall this huge (we went to the biigger of the two malls).

they do have putt putt here, but I'm kinda bored with that............so none for us.

we like downtown disney, so we went there too. good places to eat there. the disney store there can keep you occupied for a while.

I would concur with the shopping. Premium Outlets are nice.
I enjoy going to Downtown Disney also.
I also like to go for a drive (if access to a car of course) . Drive to Cocoa Beach , visit the beach, watch for ships, visit Ron Jon surf shop. Fun day also.:goodvibes

Thanks for great info!:goodvibes

We have scheduled DTD, Resort hopping and Fort Wilderness for other downs days. So, we are looking for something non Disney that all of us can enjoy (me, DH, BIL, SIL, twin DDs - 5). Anything that are fun for 5 year olds? And yes, we have a mini van.

Gatorland is a neat half day attraction. Also consider Boggy Creek Airboats, Green Meadows Petting Farm, Fun Spot Amusements or a round or two of mini golf. (There are 2 mini golfs on WDW property and plenty around Kissimmee including a black light one at Old Town.)

Aquatica or SeaWorld would be a fun partial day. Wonderworks is also very fun, esp. for the kids. They have a family pizza magic dinner show too that's really fun. Our youngest were 5 when they watched it and loved it :goodvibes
You could also play mini golf ~ there are lots of cool places to play on International and the Prime Outlet mall is great for the WDW outlet!

I also recommend Gatorland. We go every time we go to Disney. It's fun and a nice break from the parks.

Go to see the "Ice" exhibit at the Gaylord Palms hotel. It is a super terrific ice sculpture show rooms and rooms of ice sculptures and ice slides. Then go play putt putt at the Winterland course at Disney. Right in line with Christmas all the decorations and music.
