Our flight doesn't leave until 5PM, and everything I've read says we are off the boat at 9:00 AM. We bought a land/sea package ... is there anything we can to do kill a little time without it costing an arm and a leg?

Thanks!

If you have a rental car, you could go to a number of places.

NASA/Kennedy Space Center is nice. Don't have to spend too much if you just want to wander around (unless that's changed - it's been a few years).

Head back to WDW and visit Downtown Disney/Marketplace for lunch and a little more Disney before leaving.

Head to a beach (might be tough with no where to clean up, etc. but who know's??).

I'm sure there are others that will have different suggestions.

Have Fun!

Even if you don't have a car, you can do what we did. We had the Disney transfers back to the airport and we were flying home on one of the airlines that check your luggage right at the pier. So without our luggage, we took the bus back to the airport. We then took a cab to Downtown Disney. Since we were a large group, we needed a van, so we made arrangements for the van cab to pick us up to return us to the airport. He was right on time. We had lunch, shopped and saw a movie. We had not taken time to do much souvenir shopping at WDW, so we did our shopping there, supporting the economy!

lespaul55's suggestion sounds best to me. You wouldn't want to do anything involving clean-up afterwards (like the beach). There is a lot to see and do at Downtown Disney, even if you've been there before. Even though your flight leaves at 5pm, the Orlando airport can get very busy. Getting through security lines can sometimes take longer than expected, so you shouldn't wait too late to head over there. Going to Downtown Disney would be a safe distance from MCO and wouldn't cost much unless you SHOP.

lespaul55 your suggestion sounds great to me, we also are looking for something to do. Do you mind if I ask how much and how long the cab fair was to DD?? Thanks!!

Wondering the same especially what the transportation costs would be to different places/suggestions for a family of 4 without luggage.

No rental, just disney transportation. Disney suggested going to the airport then heading ovet to the Hyatt for shopping lunch. Don't think that will appeal to the 1.5 and 5 yr olds tho....

The round trip cab fare was not cheap but remember we needed a van since there were 8 of us. Unfortunately it was last August, it was over $50 but I'm just not sure. The time was between 20 and 30 minutes, the driver took some shortcuts he knew were faster. The youngest kids we had were 7 and 8, but we all enjoyed Downtown Disney. We were in the biggest Disney store I've ever seen. There was also a Lego store with a Lego playground outside it that the youngest ones played in for a long time. We had lunch at the Planet Hollywood, the TVs entertained the kids and then went to the first movie when the theater opened. The teens liked walking around the closed nightclubs and planning a trip when they are older. It was a great time killer. Note we had a very late flight, 7 pm and it was also before 9/11 and all the extra security concerns.

I suggest picking a rental car at Cape Canaveral and returning it to the airport. Depending on the number of people in your party, you could save money over the Disney transfers from the port to the airport. And if you were adding on round-trip taxi fare from the airport to WDW, you'd DEFINITELY save money renting a car.

For more info about this option, check my web site:

I agree with Dave. It get's pricey using the various transportation options. We rented a car for around $40 a day and with coupons were able to upgrade to a full sized car. You can drop at the airport for no charge. We used Avis...VERY easy with the Avis/Radisson shuttle at port. Not only was it cheaper but also allowed us flexibility. I guess it would depend on the number of people and luggage you need to move.

Unless we want to lose money, we're locked into the transportation. It's been paid for. C'est la Vie.

Since you have already paid for transportation to the airport - take it. The airport is on the way to WDW. At the airport, rent a car and head to some local attraction either in Orlando or WDW. Check out cheap rental rates on the web.

I know someone who after the cruise went to animal kingdom lodge for lunch, got to see the animals free, then went swimming in the pool. I don't know if this is really "allowed" but they looked and acted as if they belonged there and were never questioned. Other resorts have nice playgrounds that children might like, and if you have eaten lunch there, I would suspect that you could play for a while with no problem.
