What to do in the evenings?

Hello,
I have now booked my flights so we are definitely going to DLP on April 16th for 4 nights. There will be 2 adults and 2 children travelling and now I need to decide which hotel to book.

There are 4 for 3 night offers when booking through Disney. I have decided to go for an on-site hotel. This is the first time any of us have been to Disneyland and we want to get as much out of it as possible.

I'm thinking that the Cheyenne looks like a good choice. It is within walking distance (even my 4 yo is well used to walking). The reviews are mostly favourable. The price is good, freeing up cash to spend on meals and shows etc. :) The rooms seem to be clean and comfortable, even if you need to pack your own toiletries (no big deal).

The downside is that it doesn't have a pool, which my daughter would prefer. However, I think we'd be too busy doing other things to miss it. But I'm not sure.

What would there be to do in the evening for for a family with children aged 4 and 8? The park closing times are not yet shown for April.
Are any of the shows on in the evening?

I'd appreciate any advice from all you veterans!

Sharon

There are things to do in the Disney Village as well as activities and a normally a band at the Hotel Cheyenne :)

I wouldn't say you'd have enough time to worry about the lack of a pool.

If you are going for 4 nights then 4 nights in the Disney Village eating at a different restaurant each night I think would suffice.

If funds run to it - the Buffalo Bill show is a good night out in the Village.

Also think about booking a meal one evening at Cafe Mickey. The characters turn up there.

There's usually something going in the Village to watch to keep them entertained

The kid's will be very tired too so I don't think you'll be wanting a late night every night.

Depending on when in April you are going - I would think the park will be open late - the 15th Anniversary starts mid April and I would expect late openings for that.

I've found photos and articles online about fireworks at DLP. Are these still going, or were they just for a special event of some kind? Also, is Fantillusions still running, or not? TIA :thumbsup2

Fantillusion runs during the Summer and Christmas season, apart from special events e.g St. Patrick's Day - fireworks are only scheduled during the summer months - Which is a great shame I have yet to see any Disney fireworks :sad1: and I've only caught Fantillusion once - there's always an excuse for another trip.

There is a large video games arcade in the village too and a 15 screen Cinema, which we're thinking we might check out next time.

hi there
cheyenne is a brilliant option, ive been there 5 times and never get tired of it. and its a great one for the children because its got the best theme - they'll love it!
to be honest the situation with the pool is really not something you need to worry about, ive been to new york and sequoia, both of which have pools, and ive never had the time to go for a dip!
in the evenings i dont think in april there'll be any shows on in the evening, but you are going at a great time as its the start of the year long 15th anniversary celebrations, so there'll be loads going on including the Wishes! fireworks and the new Once upon a dream parade during the day, and lots of decorations.
the best thing for the evenings is to spend a nice relaxing time in disney village (if u have a little extra cash then cafe mickey is a great one for kids and u can really make a night of it, as the characters all come in to join you - its great fun!)
i hope this has helped you!

Sorry to interrupt but has it been announced that Wishes will be on in April - thinking about going and this info.could swing it for us.:)

Well I'm thinking Steve that if the park is staying open late enough for fireworks, it's another plus point for April over March.:)

The fireworks kicks off on Bastille Day, 14th July, then Wishes will run from 15th July until 26th August this year ~ sorry Jill.

Thanks Elaine, I thought perhaps, it was something for the 15th Anniversary, the park hours for April have been released now and the park is open later during the Easter break.:goodvibes

Thanks for the info Em!

We've now booked for April and will be staying in the SL. I was told when I booked that the park is open until 9 (I think she said) which was a bonus as I thought it'd be closed long before that!

So, no worries about how to spend the evenings then!

There's nothing planned for September as far as anyone knows, is there? I'm hoping to go then because it'd be quieter then, but of course because it's quieter, it's likely less will be happening:rolleyes: .

that's a good thought about what to do in the evenings, cinema sounds good, would it be in english? or french or subs?
games arcade sounds good, is there a play room at cheyenne?

Whoa - Impressed "OneLittleSpark" whilst I'm word perfect singing my national anthem, even I couldn't spell it .

There is a film shown in English on a Thursday I believe, the rest are I assume in French and the Imax is always French by all accounts. Hoping to have a look round the games arcade next visit, will let you know what it's like, there is a small games arcade at the Cheyenne.:)
