what to do in Key West?

We were there in May, got off boat and rented an electric hummer. Road it all around the island stopping at all the major places. We didn't have any problem finding places to park it. It was only $100.00 for they day and we fit 4 adults in it without any problems.

Do you remember the name of the place you rented it from?

On our last visit there we went to a great bar/restaurant recommended by friends who winter there all the time. I cannot recall the name but we found it following these instructions. Take a walk to Margaretville and look in the windows - now you can say you were there. Then go directly across the street and enjoy the local sports bar.

If you enjoy Guy Fieri's show "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives" you might like to know they did a show on Key West eateries. Because of what we saw on that show, we are going to go to Garbo's Grill for lunch.

Be aware that Garbo's is no longer on Greene, where it was when Fieri was there. They're on Caroline now.

409 Caroline. Pretty much across the street (about two-three houses) from Kenny Chesney's old house. If you like craft beer, The Porch is just north of 409, on the same block, across the street at the corner of Caroline and Duval. Keep going north up Caroline and at the corner of William is B.O.'s Fish Wagon. Just past that, about a block farther on the right is Pepe's. Harpoon Harry's isn't far past that on the same side, same block. All are good places to eat, and Pepe's is a great place to sit and have some oysters and a bloody mary at the outside bar.

Also make sure to check Garbo's Facebook and Twitter, as they do take days off or close for one reason or another quite randomly.

Now I can't wait for my February return to the Rock. Canceled my March Wonder cruise to spend a week in Key West instead.

A few of my favorite Key West things... relax with some fresh seafood and conch fritters at an outdoor restaurant and people watch, enjoy an adult beverage and some entertainment at Irish Kevin's, watch the sunset at Mallory Square, and have some chocolate covered frozen key lime pie at Kermit's. Enjoy!
