Staying in a hotel at Copley Place. Any recommendations about things to do close by? Won't have a lot of time... there on business and won't have a car.

Eat some beans?

:rotfl:

Sometimes, I get so tired, my jokes are horrible. Like this one.

Take a walk through Boston Common and Gardens....ride a swan boat for me!!! That's where DH and I got engaged!!!:lovestruc

When are you coming our way? There's a DIS meet in a few weeks!
I beleive the Copley is on Huntington Ave. But, You might want to ask TLinden16 (Karen)as I think she lives in Boston (and some other DISers)and they might help you out alot more, than I could, as I'm a 90minute drive away. Hopefully someone will see this post and help!

But try these sites for some preparing:

Flying up Sunday, staying through Wed.

We used to own a restaurant in Copley! Nice area. You can shop on Newbury street or at Copley place. That area is mostly shopping and restaurants. Take a walk through the commons. The theatre district is close, see if a show in town or at the Wang center.
It's very easy to get around from there. You can hop right onto the Green line and take it to many places. Maybe there will be a Red Sox game while you're there, very easy to get to Fenway.
You can also thake the *T* to Fanuel Hall or waterfront. Plenty of museums too.
What do you like to do?

Boston Commons is gorgeous and there's always the T.

Are you staying at either the Copley Marriott or the Westin? If you are, the hotels are connected to two malls. The Copley Place Mall has a lot of upscale stores. There is a covered walkway that connects the Copley Mall to the Prudential Center Malls. There are more restaurant choices over there (Cheesecake Factory, Dick's Last Resort, California Pizza Kitchen, and a great food court--including a brand new Krispy Kreme :) ).

You can go to the top of the Prudential Center. You can even see Fenway Park from up there.

You can also take a Duck Tour from the Prudential Center. It's a tour of Boston by land and water, and it's a lot of fun.

If you like to walk, you are just a few blocks from Newbury Street, a very quaint street with lots of neat shops and restaurants.

The Christian Science Church is nearby, and there is a really neat walk through globe called the Maporium there. Last time I was there, it was free to walk through this.

If you want to go out for a really good meal, go to Fire and Ice on the corner of Berkley and St. James. It's about a five minute walk from the Copley area (your hotel should be able to give you directions). It's like a Mongolian grill. Basically, you pick out the ingredients you want in your meal, bring it up to the grill, and the chefs cook it for you. It's around $18, and it's all you can eat. Very yummy.

If you are short on time, I would suggest a Duck Tour also. A lot of fun and a great way to see a lot of Boston. Karen has some great ideas there.

Take a duck tour - they are a blast!! :)

LOL Do you know I was so irritated when my husband took us there? I felt like if I was going to cook I may as well have stayed home <G>. It was good though.
I like Davios for Italian and Grill 23 for steak.

We are staying at the Sheraton. Thanks so much for all the suggestions! Where do you pick up the duck tour?

www.ducktours.com Where you also can buy tickets online!
www.prudentialcenter.com/play/ducktours Tells location for tours

Have fun!

Boston is a great city!!!! Do the Duck Tour first thing. I would also recommend Quincy Market, the John F. Kennedy Museum(which in addition to giving some interesting history about JFK, gives interesting history about that era), at least one meal in the Italian north end of Boston, of course, there is all kinds of shopping!

Have a great trip!

The 75 Mickey Statue Tour will be at Faneuil Hall starting on Sunday, May 23 for its 6 week visit.

I like to walk the Freedom Trail. There is also a boat ride that you can take (Harbor Tours?) you can do sightseeing or whale watching. Bring a jacket if you go.

Fanueil Hall is fun for shopping/dining. It's a tourist type place, but very fun.
The North end is great for Italian food!
Do you have kids coming with you? If so, the Childrens Museum is great.
The MFA, Science Museum, and Aquarium are all nearby and accesible by T
Newbury St. shopping is fun, but pricy.
Walk through the commons/gardens, ride a swan boat
Take in a play in the theater district!
Downtown Crossing T stop on the red/orange line will put you in the heart of downtown Boston shopping a little less pricy than Newbury St.
cool tours - the duck tour is great, but if you want something a little different/adult try the ghosts and gravestones tour...it's kinda spooky but interesting (I think it's done by the same people)
Shopping at the Prudential Center
Try dinner at the Top of The HUb resteraunt in the Prudential. They have music every night.
Depending on your interest in nightlife, there are a lot of dance clubs/ indie bands who play on Landsdowne St, near Fenway.
Not sure if the Sox will be here then but there's always a baseball game at Fenway.
Horse drawn Carriage rides from Fanueil Hall take you around the city. Very nice.
Go on a whale watch!
See an Imax movie!
Take the red line to Harvard Sq. there is more shopping/dining there.
The Isabella Stuart Gardner Museum is fun too.

And this is all stuff you can do in the heart of town (boston & Cambridge) all accesible by the regualr MBTA lines. You could also take a commuter rail train to another city, places like Salem, Newburyport etc. which are close to the sea.

I see most of what I would mention has been mentioned...Duck Tours...Boston Common to the Swan boats (Make way for Ducklings statues too!) etc...

Only thing I wanted to add is if you like Italian, then head over to the North End for some Italian food or pastries!!! YUM!!!

Everyone else pretty much covered it, but I just wanted to give you a heads up and let you know that you're staying in a very convenient area of Boston. I can see the Sheraton from my campus, you're going to have a great time!

The Sheraton is connected to the Prudential Center Mall. The ticket booth is in that mall, and then you walk out to get to the spot where you catch the ducks.
