I am going on a (not Disney) cruise in April out of Port Canaveral and of course, since we are right there, plan to add on two nights at Disney post cruise. My choices are:

CSR with 1 day at Magic Kingdom or
POP with 2 day tickets (plus a bonus water park visit that we probably won't be able to use)
The cost is about the same.

We have stayed at POP, AoA and this summer spent a week at Yacht Club. My son cried when we had to leave and constantly asks to not only go back but to move there :) He will be 8 in April, it is just the two of us.

My problem is I am not sure the extra day in the parks would be worth it, we are on a cruise so wouldn't be getting to the park until after lunch. We could spend that afternoon hanging out at the pool or going to Disney Springs. I could save more money and just go to POP with the one day ticket, but kiddo really enjoyed the water slide at YC this summer, and they don't have those at POP of course. I think I'm leaning towards the two days, but I'd love to stay at CSR! What should I do?

Normally I'm not a value resort gal but stayed at Pop last week for one night before moving over to Dolphin and actually enjoyed my room. CSR currently has some construction going on and are in the process of renovating rooms so there is a small noise factor depending on where you get your room. Pop is also in the process of renovating rooms. I'd probably go with Pop, I'm of the opinion you can never have too many days in the parks, we aren't open to close people so even a few hours is better than nothing. They do have a slide at CSR so if you have your heart set on that, and don't care about spending more time in the parks that might be the way to go. Both are decent resorts, for more resort time I'd go with CSR even with construction. For more park time, Pop is fine.

I'd go with Pop and the extra park day. April is a great month in terms of weather. Maybe go to the water park for the first afternoon so your son gets his fill of slides and head to one of the parks for dinner and FP+ in the evening.

I would go with CSR and 1 day ticket. If you have 2 days there you could spend one day at the pool during the day and have the evening for Disney Springs. Or would CSR be just 1 night?

I would avoid CSR due to construction. And 2 days trumps one. Maybe you could add an extra day and use waterpark?

OP, I would get an idea of what park hours might be like (for example, if April 2018 isn't out yet, look at last April, or at the same number of weeks before/after Easter) before making your decision. If the parks will have long hours, it may be worth going for two park days as you could still spend a significant amount of time in the park even if you don't arrive until noonish. If your trip is far enough away from Easter (4/1 in 2018) that the hours are shorter, then one park day may be the right answer.

I can say I just returned from Pop a week ago, and I was in the 80's. I didn't hear any refurbishment noise or gondola station construction noise in my room. I don't know how noisy the construction is at CSR since they are building a whole new building, but I stayed at CR when they were building BLT and the noise was very loud. Maybe pay a visit to the CSR thread and see if anyone has been complaining about noise there?

Since the second park day is not as valuable to you and the water slide is important to your son, I'd say go with CSR. You won't be disappointed with the Dig Site! Even with the construction, it's still my favorite resort.

I myself would go with Pop Century and the 2 days. I've stayed at the Pop Century and enjoyed it as much as Coronado Springs. And 2 days is better than 1. :)

My kids love pool time and a pool slide is a must. I would go with CSR. We did BC last trip and my kids don't want to stay anywhere else.
