DD's musical has their first performance tomorrow evening. They are performing "Hello Dolly". They did a dress rehearsal for the elementary kids today.

One of her best friends, who is the lead completely lost her voice last night :scared1: . She said she had a runny nose & scratchy throat over the weekend but does not feel sick.

Anyone have any home remedies for a quick fix so "Dolly" can get her voice back by tomorrow evening?

TIA!

stop talking....seriously, the only thing that has ever worked for me when i get this (don't feel sick, just can't talk above a whisper - if at all) was for me to stop attempting to talk at all. let whatever is inflamed in there rest.

of course i would also be doing all the "grandma" fixes too.....vicks and a warm towel around there, lysterine.....

hope it recovers for her.

STOP TALKING.

NO WHISPERING. None. Whispering is one of the worst things you can do to your voice, it is just as physically stressful on the vocal chords as yelling.

PLENTY of fluids, lots of water, hot tea w/honey & lemon is good. Try to find some "Throat Coat" herbal tea.

NO SODA, especially almost anything with caffeine, caffeine is a diuretic, you want to keep everything as lubricated as possible.

I hope they have an understudy, they might need it. This girl should probably also see a doctor. If I were her parent, I owuld consider keeping her home from school tomorrow.

Hope 'Dolly' feels better & is in full voice *soon*.
Break a leg,
agnes!

Too bad it's not Christmas or Cindy Brady could pray for her voice to return.

tell her to get a humidifier and make sure that she keeps her throat covered if she goes outside and its cold out. there is a special tea that you can get at the pharmacy that will help her voice but Im not sure of the name of it...

I get laryngitis several times a year.

DO NOT TALK. DO NOT WHISPER. DO NOT SAY A PEEP!

Drink a lot of WATER. Adding honey is OK. Tea is OK as well. Avoid dairy, coffee, soda, anything acidic (OJ, lemonade).

Eat soothing foods like chicken noodle soup and applesauce.

Have I mentioned DO NOT TALK!

Take in steam any way that works several times a day.

Thanks guys! If you can believe this, they don't have an understudy!!!
