Hi there! Well...first thing tomorrow, DH and I leave for a two night anniversary trip to OKW! :cheer2: This is our FIRST TIME at WDW without our beautiful DD6 (she is staying with my parents) so we want to make the most of it.

We had planned on getting to OKW early, and if our room is not ready (we are not expecting it to be) we are going to lounge around the pool and drink a few cocktails. At night we were planning on taking the boat to DTD and just walking around, getting a bite to eat, maybe check out PI (we have never been...not sure if it is worth it.)

Ok, here is where I get a teensy bit bummed...the weather report for tomorrow is HORRIBLE! They keep using the word "nasty" to describe the weather! :sad2:

Ok, after all, it "IS" our anniversary trip...so I can think of a few things to occupy our time ;) ...but after that 15 minutes is up...then what? :rotfl2: I am hoping there are certain activities you can suggest around OKW or any resort, as we will have a car and will be able to get around easily. Also, when it rains, is DTD pretty much out of the question? As I remember it, it is pretty much an outdoor plaza.

I am still excited about our trip, and I know I will have fun no matter what. I would be more disappointed if our DD was going with us, as going to the parks is the #1 activity to do with her. DH and I do not care if we even go to the parks at all this trip...although if there is some rainy day activity there that someone suggests, we would be open to it, as we are pass holders and can pop in and out of a park on a whim.

Thanks!

DH and I were kid-free last July. We spent a lot of time on the Boardwalk poking around shops without having to tell anyone "don't touch that." We did PI one night and had a ball at the comedy club--I was on stage, and at the AC-- DH had lots of attention from Samantha. I'd definitely recommend going over there. We loved the dueling piano show at Jelly Rolls on the BW, too.

We only did one park day. We went to Epcot and looked around at all the stuff the kids wouldn't tolerate. We had a wonderful meal at Les Chefs, too. The french menu was to die for.

Have a wonderful time!

We rarely change our plans if it rains... rain comes with Florida, and it rarely rains all day (unless there's another hurricane, of course ;) ) We just grab a poncho and keep on going! The parks clear out from all the people running from the rain, the lines are short, it's wonderful!!!!

Snuggling up in front of the fireplace at WL might be an option! :lovestruc

Happy anniversary. Enjoy your mini-getaway!

aimeedan-Oh, believe me...I know about Florida! I have lived here every one of my 36 years! And remember, we are not going to any parks. We plannned our days around laying by the pool at OKW, and shopping and dining in DTD. If it rains, well, the pool is out (although I do love it when it is overcast, as I try not to get too much sun these days) and I was planning on fixing my hair all purty and donning heels to check out PI and the restaurants at DTD.

Pennyplanner-Funny you mentioned WL! As you can tell by my name, that is my all time favorite resort! BUT...DH and I decided to not even set foot in the place because a) we go there often, we want to see new places and b) we might get "resort envy" and miss it so much! LOL!

MrsR-I cannot imagine the luxuriousness of being at WDW with out our DD! That said...I KNOW we will miss her. But it is only two nights, so we plan on using our time to the fullest! I keep hearing about Jellyrolls...maybe we will check it out!

Ok, anyone else with suggestions for rainy days...not at the parks? I am racking my brain, but I just can't think of anything besides eating, drinking and snuggling! And believe me...those are three of my favorite things! LOL :rotfl2:

If DH and I were child free on a rainy day and weren't in the parks, I could see us:
- visiting the other resorts. We'd probably take advantage of the monorail to go to the MK resorts and also visit the Epcot resort area - wouldn't forget AKL either. :love: ;
- enjoying an ice cream at Beaches and Cream.
-shopping either at the resort stores or DD without being interrupted 50 times!
-Taking the DVC tour (but leaving our checkbook at home, lol).
-Finding somewhere special to have a nice dinner. Probably Yachtman's Steakhouse since we really love the YC.

WLL,
I've been to PI several times and I actually enjoy it. We like to club-hop when we go just to listen to different types of music (and dance, of course). If the band is playing, we stay and watch. I love walking around DTD from the West Side to Marketplace. There's a pretzel place just on the West Side (close to the PI entrance) that is fabulous. My DH loves to go to the Sosa's Cigars and I like to get a "cortadito" at Bongo's.

If it's raining at night, you can visit the Comedy Warehouse and Adventurer's Club at PI. I've always liked to go but haven't found the time... and the one time I planned it, a hurricane showed up!

The Boardwalk is also a great place to go. We actually rented a surrey bike and had great fun going around the lake (but watch those hills! they're murder...).

If you're a passholder (even though you said you didn't want to do the parks), I love visiting Epcot in the late afternoon and having dinner there. It's beautiful to walk at night around World Showcase.

Since you have a car, you might want to hop on over to City Walk in Universal Studios.

Did you make PS at any restaurants to celebrate your anniversary?

Have fun and Happy Anniversary!!!!

Sorry I didn't even look at your location, LOL!

What about outlet mall shopping? If you enjoy shopping, Orlando has some GREAT malls - outlet and otherwise. An expensive excursion usually, but fun nonetheless!

DTD is outdoors, but you can just grab an umbrella and make a run for it ;) Have a sundae at Ghiradelli, or a sandwich at Earl's =)

OKW has a community hall where you can get board games and sometiems there are activities going on.

pea n me-We definitely plan on pigging out at Boma one night! I guess if it is rainy, we could plan it for Sunday and just hang out there awhile. It is a lovely resort, isn't it? -- We did the DVC tour last trip, so we wouldn't want to do it again...but you are right, that is actually very entertaining. I enjoyed the tour much more than I thought I would and I always recommend it to friends going to WDW!

hello cristy, my fellow lush! I just responded to ya on the other thread. Yes, I think PI is in order, especially since we have the DDE card and get half off admission...so why not check it out? And we plan on a trip to Sosa's for sure! My DH bought his humidor there on one of our first trips to WDW as a couple. I keep their matchbooks around the house, and I need to replenish my supply! You know, there is just so much we want to do...and now 2 nights/3 days just doesn't seem like enough time! :(

aimeedyan-ARRRGGHH! Are you trying to get me to spend MORE money! LOL! i am fortunate that my DH likes going shopping with me, so that is a possibility, but we are trying to stay on WDW property. For some reason, when we go to WDW, we like to stay on property. Thanks for your suggestions, though, keep em coming!

mjmcca-That would be perfect for us if it rains tomorrow, cuz we kind of wanted to hang around the resort until evening. Thanks! When we stay at a resort, we try to hang out at the specific resort as much as possible to really absorb the surroundings, ya know?

Um, go over to Basin and buy some really nice bubble bath, and then indulge yourselves. No kids, a rainy day, and a nice hotel room? The answer is all too obvious to me, as I know it would be to DH.

NotUrsula- LOL...that is why I made that "15 minute" joke in my original post! :rotfl2:

Of course that is JUST A JOKE...my poor DH would die if he knew I was posting info like that! :sad2:

Ok, can you believe I am on this board when we are leaving in 1 hour! Have a great day, all...and thanks for the tips!
