I have a holiday party to go to tonight at the home of one of the VPs of our company. I'm pretty new, so this is the first time I was invited. What should I bring?
It's not the official company party. The company I work for has over 500 employees at the office, and thousands nationwide. This will just be members of management and a few others were invited. BTW - I am not one of the members of management, so I am already a little nervous as it is.
I'm not too worried about the attire, because I think if it was formal the invitation would have specified. It just says "holiday open house" so I was thinking jeans and a nice sweater.

Not entirely sure, but you might feel a little under-dressed in jeans. Maybe khakis and a nice sweater? Or it would probably work if they were really nice jeans. I'm always hesitant to wear jeans to a party because if others are somewhat dressed nicely I feel out of place, while khakis or some other kind of slacks are always appropriate whether or not it is nice or very casual.
I agree with the comment about the jeans. Too casual. A nice pair of black or khaki slacks would work better and you won't feel out of place by being too casual if everyone else is dressed up.
Wine and chocolates are very thoughtful. Have a great time!
Ok, you all have convinced me. I won't wear jeans. I'll wear some cute black pants instead. I think I'll probably go with the wine idea. Now just to choose what kind.....
I would chose a wine that you would drink. Dont have to go too extravagant on price. Buy a nice Shiraz or for a white, I love a good Reisling(German or Washington State has some great wineries!)
Then, you can just jazz it up with a nice wine bag. If you go to a nice wine store or liquor store they may have some festive holiday bags to put them in....velvet or something like that.
I have also done a bottle of wine and tied a nice wine stopper to the bag/bottle.....something nicer than the regular cork to reseal the wine.
